Recommend me a good, no nonsense universal remote control...
One that'll work a LG telly, LG Blu-Ray player/Home Cinema and Sky HD Box.
Cheers. |

Not sure what you mean by a no nonsense remote.
But I have a harmony 1 made by Logitech and it is a bit expensive but is very good and easy to set up. |

Would also recommend a Harmony remote. I use a 515 (a bit old now but does the job)
I believe 525's are available. |

I use a Harmony 555 which I am not sure are available anymore. Does "no nonsense" mean "cheap"? In which case one of the low end One For All remotes may suit better, I used to use a OFA 7556 (or 7555 is the silver version).

This remote on a tablet is superb.
You control devices by WiFi. Don't need to be in same room. http://www.oneforall.co.uk/urc8800-tablet-remote.html I have a sky box connected to a house wide tv distribution rf network to several rooms. Was always a pain changing channel until I had a remote control that used radio frequencies but the batteries only lasted for a few hours and signal range was fairly short. You could not use remote whilst charging and you could not buy spare batteries. With above system range is great. OK you still have to charge remote but if you buy a cheap one for just this service it lasts a few days or so. You can still use remote whilst charging. |

Logitech Harmony 350 is a decent, basic universal remote available for around £25. It can control up to 8 devices, so for a setup of two or three it'll work fine and has all of the basic controls you'll need.
Another good one is the OneForAll Smartcontrol. (Model number URC 7962) which you can pickup for under £20 now. It's the one I use and it's superb, allows you to control a TV, PVR and amplifier as if they were one device for example. Either of those would be fine for what you want, and both are easy to setup and if the codes for your device cannot be found, you can teach them to control almost any RF device by using the original remotes to teach them. |
