Hello,

I have a basic Humax-fox T2 freeview box the kind that you got under the bbc digital changeover scheme a few years ago.

When I got it first I remember being able to get basic catchup tv on it, like bbc iplayer etc.

I am now on talktalk fibre (youview box works fine but have it in another room) and for some reason the Humax box will not connect to the Humax tv portal on internet, connected to router by Ethernet cable.

There is some thing in setting about setting up the ip manually on the box, just wondering if anyone else has managed to do it this way?

Any advice appreciated.

Recent changes have broken the TV Portal. The latest firmware for the HDR FOX T2 resolves the issue. It's not clear if Humax will release a fix for the HD FOX T2.

Is it getting an IP address from the router? If it is then there is probably no point setting the IP manually.

Thanks very much for your replies and help.

After trying in internet settings LAN again I have got the internet connected but I get the message when accessing the catchup service.

"error on launching the application htpps:/humaxtvportal.com"

As that site is not available on internet through my pc would I be right in thinking it is no longer supported by Humax and so no pint in trying to get catchup on the humax box as indicated by graham in his post above? Maybe a firmware might be released but I probably think not. Ah well ...not to worry

thanks

it's quite possible that humax is no longer supporting this service but you could try contacting humax either by email or phone I noticed a typo error in htpps it should be https just wondering if you typed it incorrectly on your pc?
there used to be a good catch up tv service that allowed users to view programmes up to 7 days after broadcast now it's just a live tv service which is no good to a lot of people the site is catch up tv it seems a very grey area to me and desperately needs addressing
too many people on mobile devices and smart tvs and set top boxes are losing out the industry needs a good shake up imo

Thanks for replies.

Well I contacted Humax tech support by phone. Seems the help centre is in Belfast.

The guy told me that Humax engineers are aware of the problem with the HD-Fox T2 and are working on it, and the service should be back soon. I told him that I had read on some forums that its possible that Humax might be abandoning support for catchup tv on the basic HD Fox T2 box, but he denied that is the case, and said just to keep trying as the service should be back soon.

Believe that or not!

Well thousands upon thousands of these boxes must have been installed under the BBC digital switchover help scheme, so I would consider it a bit of a scandal if Humax really did abandon this particular box.

thanks

Except it's the BBC which is abandoning those boxes - it's THEM who is closing the service down.

I presume you are aware that the BBC had nothing to do with the switchover scheme, apart from been forced to fund it from the licence fee money

The service is not being closed down. Just one way of delivering it which is now seen, rightly or wrongly, as being obsolete.

They are closing down one particular part of the service, so it's the BBC's 'fault'.
