Samsung LCD TV fault
Hello,
I have a Samsung LE37B554 LCD TV, about 4 years old. Over the past few weeks the picture has gone very pale and washed out when I first turn the TV on and it gradually reverts to normal after about a minute. Today the picture has gone quite dark, the colours seem almost "polarised" for want of a better word or as if the TV is on acid, ha. This has happened on HDMI input on both a Sky box and blu-ray player. I have tried a different HDMI lead and tried the cable in all 4 HDMI ports on the TV but the same problem happens. When I press MENU I can see that this "pop-up" menu looks fine, the colours of it are normal. Have you any ideas please? Many thanks. |

Does the TV have a SCART input? And equally does any of your kit have a SCART output? If so and you have a SCART lead to hand try plugging something in via SCART and see if that is the same.
That might narrow it down to some fault with the HDMI input side or a more general fault. Samsung had a period where they used poor quality capacitors in the power supply of their TVs. These can produce all sorts of odd effects as they degrade. Not heard of anything like this bit you never know. Though if you have no idea what a Capacitor is nor how to drive a soldering iron it won't be a DIY job replacing them
