the main idea is to get stuff off the main digitalstream hdd which is should do as it meets the 160GB preferences made by the pvr.

As for the copying to a smaller external memory device I also have a Digisender
smart media box that runs on the Android OS (4.2.2) Has any one heard of the box or got one? the idea is when I have some programmes on the Seagate hdd
i then connect the Seagate to my smart media box and transfer some programmes via a file brower (there is already one installed on the box)
to the smart media box then from the smart media box insert a 32GB stick then using the file browser transfer to the memory stick!! Will this work?? TIA ”

What model is it I can find this

http://digisender.tv/products/index.php?item=SmartMedia

or this

http://www.digisender.net/digisenderTV_series.php

But so far I have been unable to find any mention of using either box with a USB hard drive. In the case of the first link it mentions recording to a SD card only, no mention of any USB option at all. As far as I can see the USB ports are for the WiFi dongle or a keyboard. Not so sure about the second link as can't really find anything much about it at all.

And even if it did work with a USB hard drive will it be able to read the file system used by the Digitalstream?

If you click on the first link then click on spec it shows 2 models it's the one with the 1.5Ghz cpu. further down the page it mentions a external hdd so yes it seems that this will work.
As for files on the external hdd being able to play on the digisender it should work as it does support many file types and if it doesn't you simply find a Android app that will play the unplayable file. what i do know one of the memory sticks has got several files recorded of my friends humax freesat pvr and these will play
the digisender smart box a prompt screen pops up saying choose action
which has various players to choose from including movie player and video player with other options to choose from. take a look at the first link and see what you think. Iam starting a new thread for the digisender as it's a great piece of kit but doesn't come with a proper manual just a quick start guide
and no dedicated forum which i think it should have thanks for your reply
