Just had a go at this tonight and it looks good. I've also got a recipe for treacle toffee and was rather surprised to learn that one of the ingredients is vinegar!!

I grew up in Lancs in the 50s and 60s and it was tradition on Bonfire night for the women of the area to make parkin and bring it out to the people gathered round the fire......

and treacle toffee.........

parkin and treacle toffee always remind me of bonfire night..........

I must confess that I'm not too sure what Lanashire parkin is. My recipe was for Lancashire parkin!!

As for Bonfire night there would also be baked potatoes, baked in the bonfire but can't see that happening these days

Maybe more Hallowe'en but there's also toffee apples, apple bobbin, and stick the tail on the donkey!!

I make a good Yorkshire Parkin but I don't know what the difference is!
