EE - Actor who plays Peter Beale...
I thought Ben Hardy was turning into a decent actor, but tonight's episode, sadly not good. Blank faced at times... very monotone, quite lifeless. Shame. Anyone agree?

I think he's a more than decent actor when given the right material
All of these threads having digs at Peter's actor really remind me of the hate Hetti Bywater got for 2 years straight |

We've seen him act fairly well on a couple of occasions but mostly he's just a gormless hunk.

He can act. Sadly I find the character is one of the most boring and dull characters that Eastenders has ever had.

His look and appearance make up for that tbh. I'm not complaining when I see him on my TV screen. He puts the likes of Dean and Dexter to shame who are probably the most scrawniest men in soap.

He shouldn't have to make the character dull and boring! Unless he was told by the producers to act that way.

Useless writing and poor material have a big part to play, he's not going to be the best actor but he's by no means a bad one and has proven before how excellent he can be with the right storylines but Peter Beale remains very dull without much characterisation. I doubt Ben Hardy will stick around unless the writers come up with something more interesting for him than Lola/Lauren love triangle.
He could be Lucy's killer though, I think it would be a terrible idea but still... |

Atm his sl is dull, I think he is a good actor at the start of the Lucy sl he proved himself imo.
We know he left his friend to die, they really should have went somewhere with this, instead they did nothing. He doesn't seem to be interested in anything, even when he confessed his love to Lauren, I think they need to give better material/sls. |

He is a good and capable actor, hope he's here to stay, I see him as Peter now, and it would be silly to recast him again, he played it well in the aftermath of Lucy's death!

He runs rings around the likes of Fatboy, Dexter and Tamwar. He did very well in the scenes that he found out Lucy died, her funeral and visiting her in the coffin. Other times he's not so good but he's improving I find.

Do you think he's been directed to act more ambiguously than normal as he does appear dead eyed since April. From the s/l perspective tho' he would appear like that I suppose.

....Is Very sexy and a damn good actor. I think this Peter is far better than the old one.
His speech at the funeral was very well acted and the moment he found out that Lucy had died was one of the most emotional scenes in a soap I have ever seen. |

i have to disagree, ben hardy is a good actor, he proved this in scenes when peter found out lucy had died. who can forget that scene when he collapsed in ian's arms outside the vic on the pavement. it was almost to painful to watch. when given good material ben hardy is superb, even in the mundane scenes he is still decent. i thought he was good in the end scenes tonight when he found out about ian.

Personally, I think he is more suited to stage acting, perhaps.
His voice is monotone and he is expressionless, like he is reading off of a cue card or something? He seems uncomfortable with the camera there imo. But there is potential so I think he will improve as time goes by, the trouble is the character of Peter is pretty dull so it may be Ben Hardy, the material he is given or a bit of both - more than likely it's the latter - a bit of both. |

He is a great actor. The best of all the male youngsters on the show. His shinning moment so far was Lucys funeral.

He's okay. I would not be sad if he left, but I am not calling for him to be axed, either.
He was good just after Lucy died. He just needs more interesting stories. |

I find him hit and miss but I actually found him really decent in last night's episode, particularly that end scene with Ian.
