I'm using a fairly long hdmi cable to connect a tegra note 7 to my tv, if I'm streaming a movie on the tablet it plays fine but when I connect it via hdmi cable to my tv the playback is sometimes sort of laggy almost as if it's buffering ?
is there some sort of reliable wireless way of connecting a tablet to a tv ?

Thanks

Nothing anywhere near as reliable as a cable - have you tried a shorter one? (although I doubt that's the problem).

Thanks for the replies

Haven't tried a shorter cable, am I right in thinking that an hdmi cable regardless of price either works or it doesn't ? do cables have different transfer rates ? (probably a stupid question)

If you're streaming from XBMC would a chromecast work ?

Thanks again

All are basically the same, there are a few different specs (1.1, 1.4 etc.) but for basic connecting a source to a TV any that meets the HDMI spec will work.

How long is the HDMI cable? I had a 5 meter HDMI cable that was unreliable when I used it with my projector. Using a shorter cable solved the problem I was getting. It is not as simple as saying it works or it doesn't, anyone who occasionally gets glitches in their Freeview picture will know that digital signals can be problematic.

Then your cable was faulty (or source/projector) - it's not meeting the HDMI specifications.

But almost certainly just a duff cable - 10m ones work perfectly well, and I've even joined two 10m ones together occasionally with no problems.

HDMI 1.x specs only really apply to the kit at each end of the cable. There are five cable types.

Using a Standard cable with 1080p signals might give some problems but not the sort of thing described in the OP I wouldn't have thought. Though might be what caused asm's problems.

'Might' been the operative word

I've yet to see a working cable, even the very first HDMI ones, fail to work at 1080P.
