CS - Liz, too harsh on Jim?
Bill Clinton
30-08-2014
Is it a bit extreme to say Jim ruined their lives?, she seemed more sympathetic towards him during the 2011 robbery storyline itself (very amusing to watch!), it seemed overly cruel for Liz to want to cut Jim out completely, most families would stick by someone who goes to prison, even for armed robbery. It does explain what was a plotline up to now of Steve never bothering to see Jim in prison which I wondered about before this admittedly quite intriguing storyline where Jim actually meets Peter Barlow in prison came up.

Of course everything in Corrie happens for maximum conflict.

Also I can't be the only one that wants to see Coronation Street get its own proper sub forum, as I can't be the only one who doesn't watch Eastenders or Emmerdale and it's a bit annoying wading through the soaps forum having tp pick out the Coronation Street threads.

Yeah, Liz needed to show somewhat support given the fact that he ended up in prison to help fund the Rovers for her!
Despite the ridiculous bank robbery story, I found their last stint rather entertaining

Liz needs to catch herself on that Jim is in jail because he tried to rob a bank to get HERSELF the money to buy the Rovers the ungrateful cow. But we all know that in true soap style the more someone bad mouths someone the more that means they will get together.

Also he did it because Steve and his wife "Everything is about me" Becky wanted to flee the country with Max and Amy, but Liz was unable to come up with the money to buy the pub from them, so Jim resorted to robbing the bank. They need to ease up on him a bit, he wasn't doing it for his own interests only. And Liz did promise she would be there for him.

Jim was even close to taking his own life during the robbery but was talked out of it by Liz. And now he is being ignored.

Wasn't there also a time that Jim had escaped from prison and some of the street had gone to Blackpool, Jim was going to escape on a boat over to Ireland but just as he was sailing away something happened or someone needed rescuing and Jim abandoned his plans to help that person. Can't recall many other details, sorry.

Also, in the scene in the Jail when Jim and Liz were shouting at each other I fully expected it to end with them kissing so was surprised that didn't happen.

That's Steve's a one an all!

Didn't Jim kill off Jez Quigley who kidnapped Steve and had him battered by some thugs him after he testified against him in court? Jim sorted Jez out by giving that him a good clonk on the head. What thanks does he get? None. Humph!

As for Liz? Well, didn't the great Blanche say that her roots as dark as her soul!

Too harsh?! Jim is a wife beating, criminal, violent to anyone who crosses him, and now manipulative evil 'Landlord' in the nick, where he belongs and should stay forever. (He is also one of the most irritating and annoying characters in soap, EVAH!)

As for a Corrie sub-forum, I don't think that's really necessary, but if you want to spend more time with like-minded fms, maybe you could spend more time on the ep threads? Everything is discussed there, before and after the eps, and they can run for days.

Heheh, she did! But tbf, much as I have no time whatsoever for Liz McMutton, I don't think she's intelligent enough to have a 'dark soul'. If anything, her worst crime is being terminally needy, clingy and utterly dependent on men to boost her self-esteem. Which is sad really.

Hmm, tough one this. I might be wrong but didn't Steve visit Jim in prison when he first got sent down?

Liz can be extremely unforgiving and harsh in her tone, but if she detested Jim that much, would she really have gone to see him in prison? After all Steve 40 and doesn't need to hide behind Liz's skirt (or should that be belt! ) This makes me think that there is still a spark between them, as Jim said last night.

What I find strange is the way both Liz and Jim treat Steve and Andy. Andy is the forgotten son and only gets a cursory mention. i didn't like how Jim dismissed Andy last night but was keen to mend bridges with Steve.

I kind of agree with you about a Corrie sub forum Bill as it's the only soap I watch too. When Iv'e seen this raised before on here, there always seem to be lots of posters giving various reasons why it shouldn't happen. So I guess we are in a minority!
