Soap Of The Month:August 2014
*Poll is Multi-Vote*
As another soap month closes what has been the best soap this August? Which soap has had you on the edge of your seats and have you waiting for the next episode? EastEnders saw Charlie's secret finally come out as we learnt the truth that he is really a caretaker and not a Police Officer,Ian's secret is out and Kat gave birth to Twins. Corrie Saw the return of Jim,Tyrone was rushed to Hospital and Peter had an Health Scare. The Return of Ken Emmerdale saw Donna and Ross's plans go Horribly wrong which resulted in a tragic death.Aaron returned Doctors saw Heston learn he has health problems,Mr Robson almost went back into his Raping ways and jimmi thinks Zara is cheating on Daniel Home And Away had Ricky and Brax Relationship on tenterhooks and Roo was lying helpless Over in Neighbours Paige was arrested by Matt and Paul and Sheila were locked in the fridge. Back up to Chester in Hollyoaks Nancy was raped by Finn and Nico was left disgusted by Sienna's sick lie. |

I only watch Corrie, Emmerdale, and Eastenders.
Coronation Street has been atrocious, I tuned out for a few weeks and nothing changed, only tune in now to join in the episode thread banter. Eastenders seems to have stepped down a gear for the Summer. We know there's a huge Autumn coming up:
Spoiler
But that has clearly been at the expense of anything interesting happening all Summer. I'm so sick of the Carters latest happy-clappy-family-karaoke-meal-get-together-night-secret-dressup-singalong, the Lucy plot has been stagnant, I thought the Charlie 'reveal' was very flat, the endless teen love angst and drama. However, it's had a few standout moments - the Cindy/Ian scenes in particular were probably the best of the month. Which leaves Emmerdale - Donna's death has been riveting, Verity Rushworth and Michael Parr were both excellent. Debbie has been good too. Admittedly Marlon's involvement is awful, but we've always known that he's the shittest character in soap. Far and away the best of the August bunch

Plenty coming up soon though ![]() I have voted for Doctors which has remained very consistent throughout the Month. |

Definitely emmerdale! Absolutely fantastic performances!
I'm a huge EastEnders fan but they've had a very messy summer, hopefully things can be turned around soon... Corrie has just been diabolical! |

It was a toss up between Emmerdale and Neighbours for me, but while I've enjoyed the fallout from Donna's death (and her death was staged brilliantly), Marlon has been seriously annoying, and there's not much else going on beside it. Aaron's return isn't really exciting.
But Neighbours has been awesome this month: Paige's true identity was revealed in dramatic fashion when her and Kathy got in a car accident, and the aftermath has been great. 50 Shades of Ramsay Street has been hilarious; Paul's depression story has been well written and acted by Stefan Dennis, and he had some great scenes with his sister Lucy. |

the soap giant corrie is the equivalent of the supermarket giant tesco, both are in decline and have no idea of how to get out of the hole they has dug for themselves. the only difference is tesco has sacked their top man, corrie have kept the hat, for now.

Emmerdale - Nice twists with how exactly Donna was to die, Ross telling April the truth about her mum, Edna telling Aaron about her past. Only downside was seeing Sean.
As for Corrie, once the best soap in our family is now the fourth behind Emmerdale, Neighbours and Eastenders. R.I.P Corrie. And I don't even watch Neighbours and Eastenders. |

EastEnders and Emmerdale on par for very different reasons. EastEnders has got all areas covered, all round the stories have me hooked, the characterisation is defining it's wonderful and there's been some startlingly good performances amongst some really stand out episodes. Emmerdale meanwhile finished a beautifully crafted, raw, emotional story with a stunning sudden, dramatic climax saying farewell to a long-running character in style whilst having an enormous effect on so many of the characters left behind in the village. In particular of course Michael Parr as Ross has played it to near-perfection, I can't praise him enough. He's a rare talent, and Ross is one of Emmerdale's best new creations in many years.
Weighing it up, I had to split the vote between them. The other soaps didn't come within a hundred miles of either of them, though I've such a soft spot for Neighbours I'm enjoying that a lot right now too. |

Emmerdale has been superb with remarkable performances and tight storytelling. The way in which Aaron's return intersected with the Ross and Donna's arc has been brilliant. Think of all the characters we've seen involved: Donna, Ross, Adam, Aaron, Moira, Cain, James, April, Marlon, Laurel, Chas etc.
Jim and Ken's returns have been the only decent things on Corrie this month. |

Jim and Ken's returns have been the only decent things on Corrie this month. Ken's return to the Street has most definitely been the highlight for Corrie. He's right back at the heart of the Street and it's like he's never been away. I appreciate him a lot more now, what a truly iconic character he is. |

Neighbours - Paige is excellent and I loved the reveal. I also loved seeing Lucy back.

I voted EastEnders, as I am a loyal fan, episodes like Cindy's labour, for example saved August's EastEnders for me. Although I was very tempted to vote Emmerdale.

I think Thursdays episode of Easties was very good. Amazing acting from Di Parish, Mimi Keene and Adam Woodyatt. i did feel that the Carter scenes did kind of ruin it though
