This.
Plus I really don't think she's a very good singer (and has terrible skin for a "model").

thing that confuses me is that one of cowell's favourite insults over the years has been saying acts are more suited to musical theatre than to the pop industry and the x factor is all about finding a "popstar"

which seems to contradict the reaction to her this year

She's good at what she does. I am guessing that she would just be able to ignore theme weeks and do her own thing

People are acting like she goes home and reverts back to her "normal" self.

The Face showed that this is her 24 / 7 now.

She's not real jazz but her persona is entertaining

Two or three good acts last night. Like the rest of the series a bland reworking of the concept when Simon was in charge before. I wish this was a bit more like AI with actual musicians rather than cookie cutter record industry fodder. It's all very boring.

But you are still watching, as are many who say they are not interested in the show.

I didn't say I wasn't interested in the show. I'm hoping it will pick up. I was commenting on the series so far. I am not one of these "I don't know why anyone is still watching this program" types who are clearly still watching, but if it continues to be bad I will watch and still comment.

Honestly, she sounded very much like many other inexperienced singers with a smokey toned voice who try to mimic jazz vocalists they admire without yet possessing the technical skills to do so as far as her delivery .It was awkward and affected, but I hear a pleasant voice and interesting tone and style under that.
If she gets the right coaching, I think her voice is potentially right and workable for the music she is leaning toward, and paired with her beauty and personality, she could be successful. She definitely has likeability on her side, as well.

Way too fake for me. I like all that stuff but don't think she does it well. She's like someone trying to fit in by being 'different' - like 'look at me, I'm different', just like every other phoney except I think she believes that's who she is - don't mean to sound harsh but a bit deluded.

In saying that though, this character is a bit of a change which is good.

Yes her voice wasn't good enough for the song - why they cheered the held note I don't know because it was dreadful. And please stay away from jazz - although I've got a feeling that (if she gets through to the lives) she will show versatility and not stick to jazz. I think she'll be a jack of all trades as jazz is not her true genre anyway.

Yes no one has mentioned her skin, and I'm not shallow I spent years with bad skin in my teens and early twenties. Her spots look just as bad covered up underneath that make up

Maybe they photoshop them out

Generalising I know and for the want of a better expression 'Upper class' people don't tend to have much musicality about them up to and including being able to even clap in time to a beat so she's ahead of the game there but for me she is
utterly over rated and hyped up...she was only good in parts at best.......but the bandwagon is rolling..........

I find her human interaction a bit odd aswell......a little cold and robotic and forced maybe even falling within the broad range of stuck up.Very doubtful likeability for me.

Oh you are so, so wrong and I know you tempered it with 'generalising I know..' but it really is such a fallacy I can't leave it be. I guess what you mean is that pop music tends not to be the domain of the higher classes, but this is not for lack of musical ability.

Classical music is often described as elitist because it is dominated by the wealthy and a great deal more skill and musicianship is required in this area than pop music which is way easier by comparison and requires little discipline. And even so, it is often said that the world's greatest musicians are flying planes, performing surgery or directing companies for a living. People who want to be very rich tend to stay away from music as a profession no matter how much they excel in this area.

Thanks for the reply ......nice observations but I my rather less convincing findings are from watching 'yellow socked types' trying to do something as simple and natural as clapping along to music at concerts etc..........painful.

Never sure this this show, but would love Raign & Chloe in the lives. It would make it very entertaining.

Unfortunately, Chloe is already being called a fake, has a background which will make it easy for people to turn on her, plus a very flaky personality.

I think you'll find that's far from the case. Classical music concerts sell out the Royal Albert Hall all year round for example. It has a huge following, many of whom are extremely knowledgeable about music.

Oh god, I'd forgotten all about him . Quite possibly the 2nd most unlikeable X Factor contestant that has ever made it through to the live shows (after Frankie Cocozza of course).

I think if she went for a jazz pop crossover she could do quite well in time. She has the tone, potential ability, look and charisma.

I would love to hear her do something a bit different, maybe like this. (This is an acoustic arrangement of a very well known classic 80s tune .)

I share some similarities with her, so I know a potential singer in this niche when I hear one, and I really think this particular song slowed just a touch but in this style would be perfect to bring out the best in Chloe)
