That was the question being asked.

According to Neil it will be around Superbowl time, part of the delay is because of the discussions with broadcasters over them

Neil said he expects two of the three to be in the early early slot.

There was an odd moment earlier, can only presume I misheard, when Neil Reynolds was talking about Wembley kick off times he said that 6 of the 7 World Series games rated lower than the Atlanta/Detroit game at Wembley.

If that's what he said, it's a big exaggeration, none of the World Series games this year rated lower than the early kick off at Wembley”

Are you looking at UK or US ratings?

He clearly meant the US ratings. Bragging that the London game beat the World Series games in the UK would be a bit silly given the WS games were on in the wee small hours over here so they get tiny UK ratings.

NFLUK loves to make up stuff about TV ratings so no surprise they were at it again today.

I was asking just in case he (or Neil) for that matter compared UK ratings of one against US ratings of the other.

Definitely US. The Wembley game would have beaten all 7 World Series games in UK figures, Channel 4 viewers alone would have seen to that

In the US the Wembley game got 8.53 million viewers, the lowest game of this years World Series was Game 4 with 10.7 million

On a side note, the two college football semi-finals on ESPN on New Years Day drew a higher rating than ESPN's first ever NFL playoff game yesterday

Was the ESPN game a tryout for the NFL given with the new US domestic deals from 2018 ABC on Saturday nights always had a live college game in primetime. Are the NFL trying to get ABC back on board for national rights with Saturday Night Football which then would switch to the NFL if ABC were back on board also would be more UK friendly than Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football with the Saturday Nights in the USA early hours of Sunday in the UK

The NFL wouldn't put games on Saturday night throughout the season because that would be a declaration of war on College Football. If they did that then the US Senate would go after the NFL's anti-trust exemption in retaliation and basically all hell would break loose.

There has been a Wildcard game in that slot for a while now, the only difference is under the new agreement, that lasts until 2022, ESPN show it as supposed to NBC

.... And NBC get another game next week taking a divisional game off CBS, it'll be FOX losing one next year.

Although no one knows how the whole of the wild card weekend will look next year, as there is a good chance there will be 6 games with the extra wild card place looking almost certainly to happen.

Any rights for expanded playoff games would be tied into existing contracts, the only current option for NFL rights would be if there is a continuation of Thursday Night Football. It would be very surprising if ABC won a contract for this as they've shown no interest in it and it would go up against their college football slate on ESPN.

It was publicised at the time that the morning London game did out rate all but one college football game in the USA shown to that date in the season but that to some extent reflects those being shown mainly on some kind of regional split.

If I were being charitable, Neil brought something he half remembered - wrongly.

”

They shouldn't let Aikman and his sycophant Buck anywhere near Dallas games.

Why ?

I think Buck and Aikman make a great team. Love watching Cowboys games when those two are together.

Aikman used to play for the Cowboys, and sounds like he's still on the roster. Buck is a nodding dog next to him, "Yes Troy, I agree completely, Dallas was robbed on that call. Can you get me into any post-game parties?"

I don't mind Aikman, but Buck is an idiot. Then again Jim Nantz on CBS isn't much better.

Agreed.

I sometimes think Troy Aikman is well aware that people think that he will always favour the Cowboys that his comments become so pro the opposition it is not true
