Worth noting that SNF for 2 years is in contrast with Sky's new contract for everything else which is for 5 years.

Good news I guess, I thought SNF wouldn't be on the BBC, I presume it will just be the Super Bowl some IS games and possibly a highlights show.

Surely the NFL would want a highlights show fta somewhere

Thank God for that. At least we know we'll get proper coverage off Sky.

Yay to the NFL/NFLUK wanting to gain more fans in the UK - stick most of it behind a pay wall, that'll get those casual fans into it...

Would have prefered it being on BBC if not Channel 4. Mike Carson and Nat Koombs better than what SKY offer

To their credit, they've clearly always tried to find FTA exposure - but there's just no interest. C4 gave it a crack for a while, but obviously didn't find it worthwhile so backed out. And the BBC would clearly be reluctant to commit to production costs for games in the middle of the night.

The hard truth is that only the Superbowl and perhaps the Wembley games hold enough interest to attract the FTA channels. And I expect we'll see those on FTA once again.

I have Sky so I'm happy but at same time It's disappointing that FTA will not even have a weekly highlights show during the regular season in one form or another for the first time since before Ch4 started showing NFL in 1982 (some years round up clips of each game were scattered through Five's late night live shows).

Just checked the Sky schedules per SPI (not publicly available):

On Sun night, live NFL runs through straight from the 9.25pm game into the SNF game which kicks-off at 1.30am.

On Mon night, they've scheduled a filler programme between the two MNF games.

Interpret as you wish - but maybe suggests Sky will have a studio for SNF but not MNF?

BIB. I noticed that myself when I looked before. That filler won't be used because there is no gap between the 2 MNF games the first week of the season. In fact, the 1st game normally overruns into the 2nd.

I never expected studio coverage for MNF, especially considering dropping it for Thursday Night Football last season. However, that used NFL Network/CBS pre game & halftime shows.

With MNF being ESPN, and it having somewhat of a history of being a competitor to Sky, and some association with BT now, I don't know that Sky will want too much ESPN branding used, the on screen stuff on the actual game may be enough for them.

Is their an NFL Network pre game on a Monday? That would work.

Is that some sort of compromise for the lack of FTA coverage?

Also, remember recently someone suggested that Sky might be looking into creating a new channel featuring selected sports events to be available to subscribers of non-sports packages. Perhaps this is evidence that something like that is in the works.

That was screen shots of a survey that someone took to be literal and went nuts posting it.
Sky 1 is decent compromise but frankly, no FTA coverage is a joke when you're trying to build a sport somewhere and its a shame the NFL couldn't have sorted this alot sooner

I believe they do this already as Sky Sports 5 was launched as a spoiler to BT last year and you get this free if you signed up to Sky phone and broadband. Existing customers had to commit to a new 18 month contract though, whereas if you were genuinely new to Sky it was only a 12 month commitment.

Was designed to mirror BT requiring phone and broadband to get the free sports.
Sky have actually been putting more sports on SS5 was originally marketed as home of European football but since then have lost Champions League, so they could make more of this.

Obviously existing Sky Sports subscribers like me, got it included with the other sports channels.

But if no-one else wants it what are they supposed to do? At least you know you can get it with one subscription, not like football.

Do you see if Sky will have 1 hour highlights shows for each game shown live - the next day. They have been doing this fir years and I hope they continue to because i that is how I would prefer to view the TNF, SNF and MNF games - there is just not enough time to watch the full games 'as live' so to speak?

Yes - there are separate one hour highlights programmes in daytime the next day for every live game.

CBS announcing teams for the new season are here = http://awfulannouncing.com/2015/nfl-...15-season.html

Fox's are here - http://awfulannouncing.com/2015/here...15-season.html

CBS has far more strength in depth. Joe Buck remains horrible.

I will never be able to afford Sky, my broadband and TV service now is less than just Sky TV alone.

Is there going to no live NFL games on terrestrial television anymore ?
For two seasons, we had 37 games on FTA on Channel 4 and Eurosport, and now there are none.

What about gamepass? That's a pretty reasonable price.

Eurosport isn't free. You either pay to watch online or its in TV packages with Sky, Virgin etc.

NFLUK still has to announce who will offer any free coverage. Rumour on their forum ids the BBC will take Wembley games and Super Bowl plus possibly playoff highlights.

Because 3 full games and highlights of the very last part of the season is spectacular. Can't help but feel NFL might end up regretting this deal, if they're serious about expanding the sport...

Ok so it may not be NFL but BT sport shows very comprehensive coverage of College football all season with native presentation and plenty of support shows. I cannot wait as the season starts next week. Very good value at £5 a month if you already have BT internet.

Indded, it shows how poor the Sky NFL coverage is. Not only do we get games, but highlight shows and daily programming (and not just during the season). Looking forward to the season on BT / ESPN.
