With the regular season due to conclude later on today, I thought I would share the following statistics. Ninety two NFL matches will have been shown live in the UK this season. Eighty nine by Sky, one by the BBC, one by both BBC and Sky and one by BBC, Sky and Yahoo. There were seventeen Thursday Night Football, Sunday Early, Sunday Late, Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football along with three International Series Matches, two Thanksgiving daytime matches and two Saturday Night Football. The total number of appearances per team is as follows.

13. Green Bay.
10. Dallas, New England and Philadelphia.
9. Denver and NY Giants.
8. Carolina, Cincinnati, NY Jets and Pittsburgh.
7. Arizona, Buffalo, Minnesota and Seattle.
6. Detroit, Indianapolis and New Orleans.
5. Kansas and Miami.
4. Baltimore, Chicago, Oakland and Washington.
3. Houston, San Diego and San Francisco.
2. Atlanta, Cleveland, Jacksonville and St Louis.
1. Tampa Bay and Tennessee.

Green Bay, New England and Pittsburgh all featured twice in the Thursday Night Football slot, however Pittsburgh and New England featured in NBC’s opening night match and Green Bay were in NBC’s thanksgiving night game. Carolina, Dallas and Philadelphia did not feature in the Thursday night football slot, however all three teams played in the daytime matches on thanksgiving Thursday. Chicago’s one TNF appearance was on thanksgiving night although this was on NBC rather than part of the regular NFL Network package. Dallas and Philadelphia did feature in the Saturday Night Football games which are part of the TNF package in Weeks 15 and 16 respectively.

Seventeen different teams featured in Sunday Night Football matches. Seven teams appeared three times - Arizona, Dallas, Denver, Green Bay, New England, NY Giants, and Philadelphia.

Baltimore, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, NY Giants, Philadelphia and San Diego all featured twice on Monday Night Football. There were no appearances for Jacksonville, Oakland, Tampa Bay and Tennessee in MNF.

When looking at the Sunday early and late games (the matches which Sky has some degree of choice over) twenty three of the thirty two teams have featured. Cincinnati had the most early games (four) whilst Dallas had four late games. The total appearances per team are as follows;

(Early / Late)
5. (3 / 2)Carolina. (2 / 3) Green Bay.
4. (3 / 1)Buffalo, (4 / 0)Cincinnati, (0 / 4)Dallas, (1 / 3)Denver, (3 / 1)New England, (3 / 1)NY Jets, (2 / 2)Pittsburgh.
3. (1 / 2)Minnesota, (2 / 1)New Orleans, (2 / 1)NY Giants, (0 / 3)Oakland, (2 / 1)Philadelphia, (1 / 2)Seattle.
2. (0 / 2)Arizona, (2 / 0)Chicago, (1 / 1)Kansas, (1 / 1)Miami.
1 Early. Washington.
1 Late. Baltimore, Indianapolis, St Louis.

Eight of the seventeen weeks have featured two of the primary games from CBS or Fox that week. Seven have featured one primary game from either network. On Week’s 3 and 10, Sky chose two matches which were not primary games in America. In week 3 we had New Orleans @ Carolina and Buffalo @ Miami when CBS aired San Diego @ Minnesota and Chicago @ Seattle whilst FOX broadcast Atlanta @ Dallas. In Week 10 Sky picked Miami @ Philadelphia followed by Minnesota @ Oakland. CBS broadcast Cleveland @ Pittsburgh and New England @ NY Giants whilst Fox broadcast Detroit @ Green Bay.

Overall teams from the NFC East, AFC East and NFC North feature the most. The AFC South is has fewest team appearances this season.

Sky seem to have given up trying to bait casual NFL fans into getting a Sky Sports subscription. They drip fed live NFL games on their FTA channels early on in the season. But the last three NBC Sunday Night Football games have been shown on Sky One or Sky Two, the last one is tonight on Sky One.

Guess they copped on that NFL fans in Britain and Ireland are not going to cough up £45 or €65 per month just to watch gridiron. Could not see most of us watching 8 hours of NFL games on a Sunday evening.

NFL fans will generally be happy to "cough up" money to follow their sport, whether to Sky or NFL Gamepass etc. The purpose of showing games on Sky One etc is to reach more casual fans, win new fans, and also "encourage" them to consider getting a Sky Sports sub by making it clear what extra NFL goodies they would get with one.

The studio remained on air right through SNF last night - and when Dara Kennedy closed the programme around 4.30am she said "we'll see you on Saturday".

Not conclusive but no goodbye from her and no mention of Cadle being back - could be thought that it implied she will personally be back next Saturday night.

Good to see the best announcing team in Eagle and Fouts getting a playoff game.

CBS commentator saying no one wants to see the players fight.

I for one would like to see the players fight.

NFL Network after the Steelers/Bengals game (or debacle) were criticizing Nantz' commentary for blowing things up too much.

Have to say him going mental because of (it appeared) one empty plastic bottle thrown from the stands to an empty endzone was a little over the top

Nantz is happier commenting on the greens of the Augusta Golf Course

Just to confirm Dara presented last night and said that Cadle will be back tonight.

Must be a reasonable chance that Dara will fully take over next season.

Like many other viewers I am fed up with the constant pimping of the London game on Sky's NFL coverage. After yet another 'twitter question' about London tickets today from @fizzy_dave I decided to look up the user to see what sort of person would actually send in a question like this.

And guess what, no one would send in a question like that and no one did. There was no such Twitter user as 'fizzy_dave'. I'm not the only person that noticed this deception and it's documented here https://twitter.com/NFLGirlUK/status/686263235738206208.

Amusingly someone has now set up an account in that name and is tweeting the studio.

But Sky have been well and truly caught with their pants down on this one, I wouldn't be surprised if the vast majority of the endless stream of breathless enquiries about the status of London tickets are similarly fictitious. Desperate stuff from Sky and NFLUK.

I was just about to mention the exact same thing. The Sky NFL coverage reached a new low tonight.

Oh dear that's a bit pathetic, hopefully someone gets in trouble for that.

Thats bad if thats the case re the fake twitter messages...

It annoys me a bit as well, how they keep asking the questions about the tickets, but I can understand them trying to push the London games I just thought they were just pickin out those tweets related to the tickets... Embarrassing, desperate and poor form if they are making it up...There's still ages to go until the games anyway, so its not like they need to be desperate to get rid of tickets now anyway...

The London games always sell out as well so there's no need to act so desperate.

Finally this ridiculous annual charade has been exposed as what it is. I've moaned about it in previous years but every time the season reaches it's climax Sky decides to go into NFL infomercial mode (more so than normal) about the London games ticket promoting. I didn't think Sky and NFLuk (let's not pretend the league office doesn't have a big hand in how this show is put together from suggesting game selection to providing the analysts) would be quite so pathetic as to make up tweets, I generally used bemoan idiots just wanting to see their Twitter handle on TV. I was naive.

I've always wondered about the legality of promoting the tickets for the games on the show. Isn't this seen as free advertising? Surely if I was looking to sell tickets to another event in 2016 I could legitimately complain about this practise? Maybe that's why they've gone down route of fake emails and tweets. 10 years into the London games and still this is what they're doing to sell the tickets, I don't think the game has grown in this country quite as much as they pretend it has.

I've moved on to watching Gamepass via 'alternative means' because the Sky presentation is so lousy and their catch up options for games they claim 24 hr blackout for appalling.

Actually, I thought the presentation had some really good moments - some of the discussion around the Bengals/Steelers brawl, and some of the questions that were raised on Twitter were very good, and I thought that Jabari and Jeff made some really good contributions in relation to those questions.

On the other hand, I too am bored with the frequent shilling of the London games, and these days generally watch the show a good 30-45 minutes behind live to fast-forward through commercials and dross like that.

Sadly, Dara is far too competent for Sky's NFL coverage. Last night loveable ole Kev was back to his bumbling best, at least twice getting the score wrong in the Green Bay-Washington game.

If the NFL was interested in increasing the NFL's popularity in the UK, they should ask Sky to focus less on promoting the London games, and focus more on putting together a competent studio team. Even Jeff Reinbold seemed a little out of it last night, not sure if that was because it felt like they had one person too many behind the desk (although I thought the guy from the Saints was pretty good), or he was tired from a late night Saturday and four games in just over 24 hours.
