Connie Beauchamp - do you prefer her in Holby City or Casualty?
It's fair to say that Connie Beauchamp's return has been controversial. The Zoe fans are always going to be bitter with Connie for "stealing" Zoe's job as Clinical Lead. I've noticed that fans are annoyed with Connie "suggesting" that Charlie should retire because of money matters.
Do you prefer Connie in Holby City or Casualty? Connie seems to get a hard time from fans because Connie was hugely popular in Holby City.. Thoughts? |

I preferred her in Holby.
I personally disliked her in the beginning. but they gradually softened her character. Casualty turned her horrid again! in my opinion anyway |

I prefer her in holby. Tho I'm thinking something has happened with Grace and will come out. she seems to have lost all of her human side and is just cold and bitchy.
mostly what I don't get is why a leading heart surgeon would give it all up for a&e. then when she is working in the hospital and elliot is ill, why would Guy choose Jac to take over from elliot and not Connie who would be the obvious choice in terms of experience and at least she can talk to people unlike Jac |

I don't know if it's too soon to tell - I adored Connie in Holby, but obviously over the course of six odd years she was there, they did soften her character and we saw the vulnerable, or romantic, or compassionate sides to her, as well as the sarcastic, scheming, self-interested side.
Coming into casualty it's like the original Connie has been introduced; and although we know the character is capable of emotion and compassion, we haven't really seen it yet, because f her determination to become clinical lead and the immediate pressures in emergency medicine. Perhaps in the future we will see more dimensions to Connie - there are suggestions we will gain an insight into her relationship wth Grace and there could be potential romances with Cal or even Guy. Her bond with Elliot was lovely in Holby and one of the big redeeming factors of her I believe and I don't know who in casualty Connie might strike up something similar with, given that she's queen B and Elliot was very much of similar talent and intellect, it would be difficult to perhaps apply that relationship to the more hierarchical casualty setting. So in conclusion, I currently prefer the Holby Connie but that is essentially because by the end the character was far more rounded and I enjoyed seeing the softer side - such as her affair with John Grayson or friendship with Elliot - that we haven't necessarily been exposed to in casualty. |

I was initially looking forward to seeing her in Casualty and after her first episode, things looked good but then it just went a bit downhill. I never remember her as cold-hearted as she is now. She was actually lovely in Holby, remember when she went to Chrissie's aid after she was attacked by someone whose name I cannot remember? But then look at how nasty she was about Rita's situation! I don't think it was the best move to give her a character transplant. I do hope they soften her a bit to how she used to be.

Casualty. I think we're seeing more of the different sides to her now.
Has Grace ever been mentioned? People who didn't see her Holby may not know that she's even a mother! |
