Which really is a shame as Caroline would be a worthy winner in most years as well, always assuming that she does win.

Even Simon on form would be a worthy winner, except he has been hoisted there by the judges.

Frankie less so as she really isn't that much better than she was at the start ( except now she has come out of her she'll a bit, lovely woman but TTF doesn't deserve to win.)

As for MDF, it would be as if Gavin won, without any wit. He had dances where he does ok, but no one really claimed he was the best dancer, if he had won it would have been because of his personality. I suspect there are people who never got Gavin , but do get Mark, who just don't understand this comment.

I try and imagine how delighted I would have been with a Gavin win and try and understand for them. Only I can't remember wanting Gavin to win , he got to about the right place in the competition and I was happy to see him there.

Both Simon as much as I like him, and Mark as much as I don't like him have been forced into this final and the final would have been more exciting with Pixie and Janette in there , also more open also more to talk about.

I mean for me, it won't be exciting. I'm sure that there are loads of people who will be delighted with Caroline winning.

I find the presumption Caroline has it in the bag bizarre. Based on what? A handful of online polls of the sort that last week were crowning X Factor Winner Fleur East?

It's not exciting because the whole series has privileged sob stories and emotional manipulation over style and substance. So we're completely uninvested in the actual dancing and repulsed by the crying and the upstaging.

Well, some of us are. Reading some of the other threads on here makes me realise that some people seem to prefer the histrionics.

Pfft, last year was one of the best for wholly unnecessarily nasty fanwarz. I'm missing that element, this year.

Caroline looks a bit unbeatable on form but I'm not convinced of her popularity, she's had safe LB positions pretty much since her only appearance in the dance off.

It's not even the whole FromGrimsby thing that confuses me - it's the whole need to have MDF an actual thing I mean why?

This series just hasn't been amazingly good for me, so I watched some of last years dances on youtube (especially some of Natalie's) and I think the show is poorer without Artem IMO. I doubt he will come back, but it would be great if he did.

Ah, but series 6 was angsty from start to finish. Try as they might, Judy was no John and Jake certainly wasn't an Austin.

I don't know, It still has a feeling of series 3 to me.

Judy was for a bit but went out too early,

Caroline is liked but doesn't see the sort to inspire much aww.

Even when exhibiting vulnerability she still isn't an aww person, you want to go and fight wardrobe for her over her ongoing battle not to have a dress that suits her but does not kill her.

Hopefully she has won that and I notice the chesticles are out and proud.

Series 6 I didn't particularly mind as I was coming down from my Alesha high (one of about 3 people in reality shows that I really wanted to win who actually did. Heady stuff.) It's one of the series I couldn't get too excited for -Tom's popularity was inexplicable, Lisa's with the judges was also incomprehensible, Rachel was the defining popbot. I liked Austin, but other than that, that too was a non-vintage series. Quality not as high as other years, some of the personalities involved all the way to the end were annoying/dull.

I thought that Jake was pretty crap and really should have gone ages ago. Despite the fact that MDF was better than him in the dance-off, I'm wishing now he'd been saved. One less male Snowdon, one more person who was engaging at least some of the audience - and some of the forumites. I could have really enjoyed unappreciating him! Of course, we've already seen his showdances most weeks, but even so.

And my point about everything being so shallow now - quality of costumes, music choices, interviews, VTs - meaning it's harder to invest in still stands!

I hope those two dresses she wore last weekend have encouraged her. The salsa one in particular .. she's fought shy of wearing that kind of top .. but it looked amazing and everything was firm and secure Got a feeling .. from the song .. that her showdance will be a bit rumba-ey .. and her rumba costume was good so that's encouraging. Charleston .. also suited her. Just the judges choice to worry about. I'm pretty sure the macrame pot holder .. won't be making a repeat performance. Possibly Vicky Gill is keeping her tangerines in it now

Unappreciating we are at risk of seeing the original goat-wrangling dance again this year. MDF must be the first one eliminated.

Also unappreciating that I very much doubt the celebs and pros have chosen their own showdance music.

Would Pasha have really not chosen Beyoncé? Really really?

The Producers have given MDF and Mrs FG-elect "Billy, don't be a hero"

I can just see the producers sitting down with him as he weeps into his dimple -

Pasha - (sob, sob) But I wanted Beyoncé. You said if I made it to the final we could have Beyoncé. It isn't the final without the Bey!

Evil Producer - But she's exactly like Beyoncé, Pasha. She's ... ummm ... she's the British Beyoncé. You know, just like Alehsa was.

Pasha - She is nothing like Beyoncé! She appears on the Joolses Holland. She's all worthy and stuff, like the Annie Lennox who never lets us dance!

Evil Producer - She is the British Beyoncé, Pasha. Her initials are B and K. It's uncanny.

Pasha - (sob, sob) Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, oh-no-no! Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, oh-no-no!

Evil Producer - The song's called Angels, Pasha. You can dress up just like an angel, Pasha. We can get Vicky Gill to pretend to be the Shopkeeper again. Would you like that, Pasha?

Pasha - (thinks) With wings and everything?

Evil Producer - Um-hmm.

Pasha - Ok! Six more sleeps and I can be an angel! Yay!

I so wanted a Matt, Kara, Gavin final that year and we got bleedin' Shamela instead.

This year there are no stand-out dancers in the final and no personalities either, let alone people with talent and charisma. I couldn't abide Pixie but at least she would have provided me with a decent hate figure. MDF is so sappy and pathetic he just isn't a worthy opponent. Jake was my last hope of breaking up the vibe of the final being formed from people who look like they come from the same washed-up Pop Idol supergroup.

I'm also baffled by this. I came out of last week thinking "Right, I guess Frankie's winning then" only to come on here and find everyone saying Caroline's got it in the bag. I know last year turned things upside down a bit with someone who had previously been in the bottom two winning over two people who never had been but I'm still inclined to think Frankie's the most likely winner. Before last year only Alesha had won after being in the bottom two, and there were slightly special circumstances around that. I'd like Caroline to win but I'll believe it when I see it!

Can't decide whether or not to unappreciate the use of Angels for Caroline's showdance. On the one hand, Pasha's branching out! No popstar disco showdance for Caroline! On the minus side, I feel like Caroline might actually have suited that kind of showdance. Also, I think Caroline might cry. I don't know if that's a plus or a minus but giving her a dance where she almost cries at the end three weeks in a row just seems cruel.

Unless of course Pasha's fed up with Mark and Karen hogging all the tears and has decided he wants a cry-off and goshdarnit, at some point Caroline is going to cry on camera! That'll take Mark's teary superpower away from him. All those sympathy votes will be Caroline's and that'll take them from second/ third place to first and Pasha will finally win his glitterball!

I can't really believe the polls either. Maybe it's because I usually never pick the winners, maybe it's the feeling that Frankie (nice, sweet) fits into the winner's mould better than Caroline.

I guess Caroline's JURNEE couldn't be Kimbotley 2.0 unless all her fans kidded themselves she was going to win in the run up to the final.

(I dunno, she might).

(I don't doubt that Mark's showdance will also end, a la Kara's, with a reveal of his dinky bucket)

I have no idea what this means but it sounds filthy and disturbing. The only things I remember about Kara's showdance were that it reminded me of a particularly naff Debbie Gibson video circa 1987 and that Artem dislocated her arm for her in what was probably some kind of dour, Russian motivational technique.
