Whereas Judy just got a 3, in an Anton ballroom, and she's not going for comically bad like that Widdecombe woman. She's got an Anton latin next... poor woman has no chance.
It was a surprisingly good first lot of dances. Yes, the music choices were gimmicky, a comedy VT sprung up and there were props galore, but the band was better than usual, the dances had lots of content, the tangos and jives were perhaps better than the waltzes and cha chas... 'Course wardrobe had some monstrosities just to restore some sanity to affairs.”
Didn't we hear that it was Salsa next for 3G? I would out my money on Aliona choreographing a barely contacting salsa ....
In theory FFG should be able to choreograph an ok ballroom - however it still might not be that good if she hasn't or doesn't teach him the basics. I need to watch it back but one of the reason's Scott's CCC was so terrible was the fact that it did look like he had no clue how the steps should be done correctly - like picking his feet up for steps when technically the toes should stay stroking the floor at all times - and the lock steps (one of the most basic steps (which can also come up in ballroom) where not locking/crossing behind or in front at all and were more mincey. If she just teaches the steps without explaining the technique at all even in ballroom Scott will be mincey even if FFG can cover up some of the inadequacy by ballroom hold and major back leading.
Say what you will about TTF (and I unappreciate myself for saying it) but it did seem to look like Frankiebot had the technique (or most of the technique) involved right. There might be too much gurning OTT face and too many pivots - but that's another thing ....
Overall I was pleasantly surprised how good the dances were last night - and in most cases the lack of too much faffing or props. I was surprised how good Steve's tango was and in my opinion it was better than Jake and Janette - but this might be because I thought Janette's technique was a little lacking and Jake was too hunched and it was the "typical Strictly domestic violence tango" whilst Steve's wasn't and I thought Ola did look like she wasn't necessarily leading it 100% of the time.
Of the ringah's I was most disappointed with Pixie's jive as the new bloke whose name escapes me didn't actually get HER to do much jiving. Thought there was more "jive content" in Tristan's dance with Jennifer - although she obviously struggled to perform it.
Tell me was Caroline there last night (after the intros) since I don't remember seeing her in the Tesspit/Claude9 after that - or before the end "keep dancing" bit.
