Nowhere near a 30. The posture, footwork and aforementioned terrible runs made it way lower

What a surprise.
All the bits that were wrong got completely ignored, and he was overmarked to buggery.
But in other news, Alijaz is in a vest.

For a professional actress, some of the faces particularly at the beginning were a bit weird!

She made me think of a flamingo picking its steps. It was stilted somehow. For her to straighten her steps, she needs to actually bend them first. Cross her and Jamelia and you might have something.

Oh no, Helen s legs suffered from Karen cliftons vulgariy!! And she is so elegant, I don't get it.

But to be honest, I couldn't take my eyes of Alijaz!

Way better than PDuh's cha cha, way better than what he did tonight, but the judges moan to her

She's automatically turning her legs out, like you would for ballet. Karen has no such excuse, being a professional Latin dancer, but I'm pretty sure that's what Helen was doing.

I'm curious how much ballet she did as a child because it's looking like a lot of the basic technique has settled firmly into her body. I know people on here won't have much patience with it but that thing Pixie went on about last year where she was having to unlearn one technique in order to replace it with another? I think we're actually seeing that with Helen at the moment and not just as a vague "It's hard for me too!" excuse.

I think you are right. I have never done ballet myself (one of my regrets) but I get what you are saying.

As someone with vowels so flat, they need picking up off the floor with a fish slice - I love Helen's speaking voice

Is it wrong to appreciate front and centre Iwan in ever Clauditorium shot looking totally hacked off

I still think she has rhythm and a lot of potential. Much better than the Latin we saw from Ali and Cherie, who were much too balletic.

He's going to be absolutely shocking at ballroom. His posture is awful

Absolutely not. He was so awful I actually feel a bit sorry for him.
I'm a bit confused about Helen - from the waist up she is really elegant, but from the waist down it's all kinds of wrong.
Can I nominate Alijaz for vest wearer of the series? And unappreciate the camera people's distinct lack of zooming in on his bum?

The marking was decent all night until the last two dances!

That said, I'm not sure what should have been in the pimp slot. Jay's waltz, best dance of the night - could he have remained conscious until the end? Anita's Charleston perhaps?

Gawd at Iwan. Imagine coming across as more desperate than PETER ANDRE in the week the latter actually cried because he did an alright week 1 sort-of-cha cha. Get rid.

Unappreciating my tablet being utterly sluggish tonight which has made keeping up with the chat even harder. Unfortunately, it was so slow with my BBC password reset, I only managed to get 2 of my 3 votes done before voting closed

Dear Natters,
Been lurking for years. Haven't caught up yet today but needed wine tonight hence unlurking:
Some liked Ewan before and now dislike: didn't know him before but can't stand him anyway since appearance on Strictly.
Jeremy!!! Can't stand him on Radio 2 with his stoopid Daily Heil callers-in, to say nothing of his self-vaunted Swingometer, but I actually like him on Strictly! Am I losing it? Think it's his big daft grin and sod-it-so-I-can't-dance attitude.
P-Duh. A dark part of me wants him in the final because that way a beautifully interesting NAT thread. However, no can do because there's something deeply horrific about revolting men wearing red as in a Stephen King-type small but ineffective devil that prods you most painfully forever like toothache or period pains.
So: for me a less interesting NAT with Jay but WHY HAVE THEY CUT HIS HAIR??? It's boring and it just makes him look pretty boy. I like men with long hair (am 67 so that probably explains it). Super waltz though.

Now off to vote - split between Anita and Jeremy.

Oh - to topic - as always can unappreciate the Tess Frock, which apparently needed a bandage tonight.

Back later. xxx

I agree and that wasn't meant as a dig at her, though I can see it might have read like one; she's actually one of my early favourites. I think she's a good dancer and she had more oomph about her in that cha cha cha than I was expecting. I'm genuinely curious what her background is because truthfully from the hips down, she looked how I felt when I stopped ballet and started ballroom/ Latin instead.
