...I'm inclined to agree, although for different reasons. I actually think Charleston would be one of the hardest dances for Jay, as the performance style isn't one I think he'll excel in (unless they go down the Sophie & Brendan "1920s froideur" route, which could be utterly excellent if done well).

If they do AT I am praying she gets an AT pro in the help her. It makes such a difference and Jay will love it.
If they do an SCD version is will be pants again with awful footwork and crap ganchos (or leg hooks as they love to call them on SCD *spit* ). That's the thing with the AT, it's so hit & miss, most casual viewers like me don't get it & most lovers like you get understandably upset because the pros don't get it. If I had a choice, I'd have him miss the foxtrot, it's boring. |

I'd like it if they go for a Swing/Balboa version. Grumpy Old Git Len will moan, but really someone should give him a lesson in dance history and explain how all those dances are tied together and overlap each other.
He is stuck (like many old fashioned ballroom people) in the the belief that ballroom invented every dance, when in fact they just nicked them all from the rest of the world! Quote:

I just had a moment of doubt about whether Rudolph Valentino danced Charleston so I googled, and yes he did. He and his wife used to hold Charleston competitions at their parties.
So authentic. Make it happen BBC. ETA - they'd make him dress up as a sheik, wouldn't they? Scratch that idea. |

He's amazing really, he has the control & flexibility of ballet with the rhythm for Latin and the grace and understanding of ballroom. He has the arms, control & grace for beautiful rumba, it's just whether he can connect with sensuality of a rumba. It could be his emotional breakthrough dance though

Bloody hell, Darren Gough must have done a rhumba, as I clearly remember Colin doing, a rather good, one, in those days they didn't skip dances, thankfully I seem to have wiped all memory of it from my mind.

If I had a choice, I'd have him miss the foxtrot, it's boring. If I remember correctly, Aliona accepted help for that. |

Monkseal - have you posted on the 'are you a ringah' thread yet? I have no idea about your previous dance experience but practically everyone reads your blog so that's got to give you an unfair advantage in this hypothetical situation.

I am OK with foxtrot primarily because of the music it is normally danced to. But if he did a foxtrot style AS that might be a corker.
I love an AS even though it's just a foxtrot (waltz/VW/QS) with lifts but I hate the foxtrot. It bores arse off me, i know Helen danced one, I know she was Marilyn, I know she looked amazing but I have absolutely no memory of the dance. |

Which one was series 10?

Well, if you want us to go back to discussing Giovanni, his excessive sweating and how this may impact on his sex life (plastic sheeting, picnic rugs, bungee ropes et all) it can be arranged

Louis Smith's year. Lord knows what'll happen in here this year when Craig scores Jay a 7 for vague acting reasons or however they'll give his "journey" texture. I've only just reattached the doors after the last time.

To be vaguely on-topic again, it's always irks me that we've never had an American Smooth Tango before - it is a thing, it is!
