True!

Most flamenco fancers have awful personal lives. Partly is due to the background they come from which is marginalised and addiction riddle sadly.

I was just thinking the same myself. I had just done a quick round up on whats happened since the last time I lurked and it seems mostly Dance Appreciation..................

Whats happened to all the angst laden thoughts about the upcoming montage of terribly ill fitting music and dancing to come this weekend..........

Or have we all become fluffies ....................... and *whispers* deserve to be put in the attic???????

Come on people........... Standards!

Think everyone is going to their happy place to try to hide from the horror of Twee Fwog & Titzilla, for some it's all about the dancing, for others *cougnhmeandKitKatcough it's about perving. Aggs can do both

I'll unappreciate a bit.

I just don't get the Anita love. As a person she seems pleasant enough, but her dancing is clumsy and sort of rough, and I thought she looked like a bag of washing in the last dance.

And Gleb? He's a flamin' android, can't feel a flicker of sex appeal for all the weird crab moves in the world.

There ye go.

I am at a conundrum with her. Part of me loves that couple, part of me can't stand them. I just don't know! It's not like Helen and Alijaz where they are so vanilla that I know exactly how I feel, slightly bored but appreciating both.

I hated the Gleb special move................. WTF did that have to do with ballroom?????????????

If Len was going to explode about something it ought to have been that.

Yes Giovanni looked smug re the rumba and obviously riled Len with his dismissiveness... but at least it was a rumba, yes without much rumba content - but no airy fairy contemporary stuff.

Gleb's crab move - yes reminded me a bit of the film ghost but that definitely does NOT fit into the ballroom environment.

I cant wait to see the training later.

Someone mentioned that she has Susannah vibes, but a bit better controlled by Gleb being... Gleb. I do get that a bit. I think he got the AS all wrong - she's dynamic and snappy as a dancer, not soft, lyrical and finessed. I get that he was most likely given the music and had no choice, but I think he indulged his weakness for contempo-rolling-about as opposed to what would best suit her.

Gleb is very classically pretty but nope, no sex appeal there at all so far. He's a moving shop mannequin.

Got to agree with that. Sexless and slightly creepy with it.

And with the desire to do 'contemporareh', not a good combo for me.

And yet I 100% disagree. He fascinating to me, he's very Russianly inscrutable in a way Pasha & Aljaz just aren't but Artem was. There's a lot going on beneath the surface to me but hey ho, takes all sorts.

He's also by far the most interesting male choreographer, sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't but I like that he'll try things, especially now Artem is gone

Interesting, I didn't find Artem 'inscrutable' at all.

Gleb is more 'blank', than mysterious to me too, but it's early days. Hopefully he'll provide some inadvertant laughs at least.

I don't find 'desperation to do some sub modern ballet moves', in dances that aren't anything to do with that vibe, particularly interesting either, but they too, can amuse, if random enough, so I'm hoping for the best.

Well, Aljaz is Slovenian

Pasha's an interesting one to me, because by his interests he seems to be quite intelligent. He's deeper than his SCD appearances look.

Oh if Anita had got TTF I'd be throwing things at my tv by now, Gleb balances her out (which is where, for me, it went very wrong for Denise and James - she needed a 'softer' for want of a better word, pro - Pasha maybe, to balance out the brass Essex girl persona, not a brash Essex boy like James, she may have been a lot more popular away from him, or at least less annoying).

And i can't think of anything more excruciatingly boring than "traditional ballroom" waltzes, VWs & foxtrots, so guess that's something for everyone then

Just flicking thru my mum's copy of next week's Radio Times.

Jeremy Vine is doing a weekly strictly diary.

He reports that Helen sent a text to all other competitors "I've got an enormous splinter in my arse" from being swept along the practice room floor.
The woman could yet be DOT material

I would like to unappreciate my shoes. I haven't worn them since last winter and since I last put them on, the toe areas of both appear to have been invaded by microscopic elves with miniature nutcrackers.

I'm in chuffing agony. (And consequently even grumpier than usual.)

In last week's issue (or the week before, can't remember), Jeremy was talking about his underpants. In far too much detail.

While I'm here, I'd just like to unappreciate the £230 vet bill I've just paid to have my cat's teeth done. Also the fact that, having been at the vets all day, he now won't leave me alone (I love him dearly but it's hard to type with a 4kg cat on your lap.)

Love a proper jive, hate Strictly rumbas but like them when done by pros, like most Latins, love pasos (even bad ones because they make me scream with laughter) and I'm getting used to charlestons but they're a bit meh. Love a good QS or tango too (not, that we see a good QS that often)

On dwts I always found Gleb came across as empty between the ears. It might've been a case of being over shadowed by Creepy Hough & the Manic Muppet but I'm not getting much from him on scd so far either. Wasn't keen on the Gleb special move.

Artem- I enjoyed watching him dance, his choreography was a bit hit & miss for me but he wasn't my cup of tea looks wise. It's all about personal taste though at the end of the day & that's one of the things that I love about this thread, that many of us have different views/favourites but don't fall out about it
