I really can't be doing with that whole Dolly Sparkle routine of Pixie's. I was also slightly distracted by the fact that she appeared to be wearing the rooster costume Pam Ferris made in celebrity Sewing Bee the other day.

There seems to be a lot of love 'out there' for Mark's samba. My idea of a good Strictly samba is Matt and Aliona and Mark was nowhere near that level. Are people really swayed into thinking dances are brilliant when the judges overmark them?

That 9...... what was Darcey thinking?! Karen's face said it all, really

Have just rewatched Matt and Aliona's samba and my goodness, it's worlds apart.

Why? I thought that Mark's Samba was far more enjoyable to watch.

There are many of us who want Mark for more than another week, especially when compared to some of the other crap dancers, at least he is trying.

Me too - not a dancer myself so cannot comment on technique, but on pure enjoyment value Mark was my preference.

Pixie's headgear reminded me of nothing so much as Ethel Merman (was she the one who used to be in those old movies, swimming? or am I getting confused with mermaids? help me out someone ... who was that swimming filmstar?)

or my Auntie in her 1970s rubber swimming cap with hideous 3D flowers on which were meant to make it look more feminine.

ETA Google reminded me I meant Esther Williams

Have come to the conclusion that I don't actually particularly dislike Pixie (although I find her somewhat meh) and I quite like Trent; it's the combination that makes me want to throw things. I can't stand them as a pairing. I watch them and I think - she's good, he's very good and the dance is well-choreographed so why do I want to kick the screen in? It's bizarre.

Pixie is very pretty to watch but I'm always left with the feeling I'm watching a ten year old at ballet class.

De-lurks....

Me too along with how many times we were told how hard Scott trains as if the others just trot along on Saturday and throw a number together....

I may need to do Pixie-minion appreciation again to calm down....

Back to lurking....

I really like Trent too (aside from the urge to force a good hearty meal down him). I find the problem is the same as with Frankie, both have been so media trained that they come across as incredibly dull & with Frankie, it extends to her dancing... it seems very placed/precise but with no real performance or emotion. Pixie on the other hand seems to be trying too hard to force a performance & emotion and it comes across as unnatural, especially dancing with the more natural, laid back Trent, meaning that they seem to jar with, rather than compliment each other.

Pixie does at least have the benefit of good choreography (jive excepted) on her side.

Hi, no need to lurk, but could you edit your post to put the slightly spoilery bit in spoiler tags please?

For me it's that Pixie seems so affected. Not just the tears but everything. I'm indifferent towards Trent too, he's not my cup of tea physically and I haven't been wowed or horrified by his dances. Frankie, while reserved, just seems more genuine.

I feel sorry for Caroline that she's got the plucky third girl role. There always is one and I think that sometimes the costuming and settings hamper the genuine ability of these. (It's like Daphne vs Velma in Scooby Doo. You know Daphne looks great, says all the right things and has the handsome boyfriend but Velma is the one who does all the hard work and is better.) I just wholly unappreciated the unsubtlety of sticking to formula so rigidly.

Don't get me started on the TFG algorithm.

Re Frankie - the only performance of hers I have found engaging in any way was her paso (quibbles over it being last year's paso aside) precisely because it wasn't the nice, sweet & slightly dull routine you know she can do in her sleep.

Re. Pixie - forcing it is exactly her problem. She wants to be Pixie Lott of the Pixie Lott School of Performing Arts (or whatever) - she sings! she dances! she acts! Just relax a bit and let the dancing do the talking.

All of this and why was Scott stomping better than Judy's have a go?

Frankie & Kevin just come across as far too saccharine for me.

Mark & Karen. What does that woman do with her hips. It looks really strange like she is dancing with an imaginary goat between her knees or she is trying to avoid an accident.

Caroline at least seems to have DOT potential.

BIB- I just don't get the love for their Samba. I can see Mark was trying to do the technique but failed & it just looked odd. Karen looked like she was having a fit at times. It was more Shimmyba than Samba.

Hi KMC.... I haven't actually read the spoiler.... sorry if this appears to be slightly spoilerish ... I was commenting on ITT and the show in general which always goes on and and on and on about how hard Scott works...

I like to lurk- I have done in general this year after last years aggression- fest...

But equally I feel like a DOT at heart!

PS- sorry can't edit it either...
