Xbmc query

A friend of mine suggested I get a xbmc, but Is there any point I've got a smart TV , on demand with sky and numerous laptops and a MacBook plus tablets, how would one benefit me?

First off XBMC is not a "thing" in the sense of being a bit of hardware you plug into a telly. It is actually software that runs on a variety of devices. It is a pretty decent media player and entertainment hub. Whether you need it or not depends on whether it does anything that your current kit doesn't. Or makes it easier to do what you currently do by integrating everything into one interface.
