Indeed, and given the tone of the show, I don't see how they can possibly continue. I really don't want to watch anyone break their neck.

How come people never complained as much during the 1st series? Looking at Wikipedia's page, it sems that there was just as many injuries and stand in competitors. Was it because it was on daily then. I'm uust puzzled as to why people are only starting to complain now, when there will always be injuries and the like.

Injuries in this series are a lot more extreme, 1 broken neck, 1 broken ankle, 1 broken arm and 1 dislocated shoulder.

A question for those who openly expressed their desire for lots of injuries... how do you feel about it now, given the severity of Beth's injury?

I think it's Beth''s injury that has caused the outrage, with skiing you mind of expect broken arms/dislocated shoulders, lots of people come back from.skiing holidays with that kind of injury son when you sign up to this type of show then you should expect that, but quite obviously Beth will regret ever signing up for this, and while accidents do happen, I really think given the severity of this one, it should be pulled- If it carries in and someone gets as badly injured as Beth or worse, then Channel 4 are going to look heavily negligent for allowing it to continue

That and the fact that the show this year is rubbish anyway, the weekly format just doesn't work.

I think the main issue with this series is the rate at which the injuries are happening, had they all happened throughout the series then it wouldn't be as bad (with the exception of Tweddle) but I think it's the fact that by the 2nd live show 4 people have pulled out with pretty serious injuries.

Ah... I think I've just sussed Channel 4's master plan, having seen their new trailer promoting the channel as... The Paralympic Broadcaster!!!

I feel they must pull the show now given Beth Tweddle's very grave spinal injury.
Even though the latest news is that she can walk a few steps with assistance in the hospital, who knows if she will ever be as fit and able as she was before.

The Jump should be on its last legs.

Even if Channel 4 are still keen to continue with another 4 shows, I think if Davina was worth her reputation she would say "no thanks" this is not something I can continue to put my name to. But she won't or cannot of course, is probably under contract to continue come what may. Keeping on with it will be rather unedifying on multiple levels - the format is diabolical, and the injuries are simply unacceptable when they reach possible life altering levels. The controller of Channel 4 should step in and call a halt.

Who's complaining? People are just voicing criticisms about the way things are being handled. If people want to complain then they would contact Ofcom.

With this series there appears to be a distinct difference due to the frequency of injuries.
Week 2 of 6 and almost half the contestants are injured. That's quite significant and quite rightly raises question marks.
Not to mention one injury which appears to have been quite serious.

I think that in this series people would appreciate some honesty about what exactly is going on when we are told that somebody is injured.
First we were told that Beth had to have a 'routine operation'.
Then we were told that Mark-Francis Vandelli had just suffered a sprain.
Both of those statements were untrue.

As a poster above mentioned, it's this which has quite probably presented Channel 4 with a very big dilemma. If somebody else has an injury which is almost as severe, if not more so, Channel 4 will be asked that knowing what happened with Beth why did they continue and thus allow somebody else to be severely injured?

As it stands with so many out so early in the series they might end the series early, which would also serve to minimize any further unnecessary risk, and I don't think it will be back next year.
We'll probably get a very quiet announcement months after this series has finished that it won't be recommissioned.
They'll probably balance the ratings performance against the risks and the insurance, and if the ratings aren't great then that will be a good excuse they can use to end it which would be partly true.

I think it's just common sense to end it.
When the show was promoted as being even more challenging with the danger element being used as a selling point, and you see some of the celebrities arsing around rolling down the ski-cross slope, and stopping to give each other hugs, it makes a complete mockery of the entire premise the show is sold on.

When you marry these two points together then it probably sends out a very bad message. It's dangerous and competitive, but look, we have celebrities treating it as a big joke. That's not great when you've got injuries like broken necks. It sends out the message that the show is unprofessional and irresponsible.
And equally it's a bad message to send to young people watching the show when some of these sports actually are dangerous and the show is failing to get that message across in a responsible way. It should probably be making people aware of the dangers involved by not taking things seriously and ignoring safety precautions.

Due to recent events I can imagine that if people like Arg and Brian start fannying about again now they might get a bit of rollocking and told 'Don't do that'.

I'm sure that they have some very professional people involved with the show, but overall the production seems to be an absolute shambles and overall organisation appears to be very poor.

I think a lot has to do with the mindset of some of the participants this year. As a previous poster has said there was a fair amount of 'fannying about' on that helter-skelter skate run event last week. Some of them adopted the correct position (as though skiing without the skis!) so they must have had some training and coaching, but most of them stumbled, held on to the side where possible and just generally thought it was acceptable to make a fool of themselves. It was as if they were doing it for the first time.

Winter sports are dangerous and they should not be putting forward the idea that these events are anything but dangerous and participants should be taking it a bit more seriously than some of them appear to be.

Who's Zara Holland? Have either of them had any training before? What happened to the other female standby?

Does anyone know which event Beth's accident happened on?

I wonder if we will see anyone jump from that new 'bigger, better, higher' ski jump? I'm bored of the air jump already.

I'm just thinking it's greed as they know the risks obviously, taking part in something so clearly dangerous if you have no experience.. guess the money they are paid is pretty enticing.

To be fair on both those occasions the show were reporting based on the information they had at the time - the 'routine operation' information was release by Beth's parents - were they supposed to go to the hospital themselves and check it was true? (They would not have been allowed in in any case.) Mark's injury happened live on the show and no-one knew how bad it was until he had had the scans at the hospital (after the show).

Not that I am defending the show - something has gone wrong this year, injuries seem to be more frequent and more serious than in previous years which doesn't make for a great viewing experience and the sheer level of mucking around on the snow cross was unbelievable compared to last year. It seemed like, despite having a whole week to train for it, they simply had no idea what they were doing.

According to the show Beth's injury happened in training for the ski jump after she landed a jump and then failed to slow properly before crashing into the crash barriers. These kind of accidents happen every week in winter sports events when people lose control for whatever reason. The question is why it happened here, presumably all contestants are taught how to stop safely before ever they get on the jump.

Over all the impression is that short cuts are being taken despite the longer period available thanks to the weekly format.

Can not stand Joe Swash and the other woman if never heard of. hope Joe& Tamara injure themselves and have to pull out next since I cant stand either of them

No, just be honest and don't make something up. If they don't know then just say they don't know yet and fingers crossed.

The clowns in charge of this show probably now think that all this bad publicity is good publicity.
