We've decided not to watch any more of this show, it should be cancelled. The lie about 'routine surgery' was disgraceful. The fact that Tina was allowed to jump when there were people in the way was disgraceful. The show clearly has very little in the way of organisation. And we can't be doing with that Mills woman.

Bollocks to it.

Oh so Arg gets to come back even though he got eliminated. Urgh. I thought we got rid of that irritant.

Oh dear once again, it was not a lie, it was the information that the parents had relseased to the press.

I think some people need to really change the record, ok I get this is the series with most people pulling out to injuries but they don't seem any more serious as previous years. My faves this year are Ben Tom and I really like Heather

So far this year:

Serious:

One fractured spine requiring surgery
One dislocated shoulder requiring surgery
One fractured arm
One fractured ankle

Minor:

One hamstring injury
Assorted bumps and scrapes

That is a huge amount of serious injuries for a small amount of competitors and more serious than in previous series
Rich Tea.

Regardless of the actual injuries, the actual competition itself has effectively been rendered meaningless.

Only Beth's injury has really been far more serious than the sort of injuries you might expect from any sporting activity, and I think the thing that really left a bad taste in our mouths was it being significantly downplayed last Sunday. We, as viewers, also have this arrogant completely unjustified demand for what is actually private medical information which doesn't help. The little information release about Beth creates an image which isn't great at all and may not accurately reflect the reality of the situation.

Rebeccas and Linfords injuries are likely to be as much a result of their chosen careers as their participation in The Jump - long-standing injuries have likely been bought back to the surface. And there have probably been as many injuries in this afternoons France v Ireland match as in a series of The Jump - that's what happens when people get off their sofas!

Odd then that the BBC were already reporting it as a serious injury before the non-announcement on the show.

With a quote from the parents that said "she is having routine back surgery" as you will see here http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/gymnastics/35516231 so the show gave the line from the parents, the line that clearly the parents wanted to be put out about their daughter. Or are they going to also be chastised for not telling us more details that at that time they may not have known or wanted us to know about their daughter?

I'm astounded that chloe from geordie shore hasn't been picked or an ex on the beach star, channel 4 need IMHO to cast their net wider as if it were.

Well what does that tell us? They present something to us on the show as though they are updating us with the latest inside info. But in reality are getting their information from what's reported elsewhere?
They should know. It's their show. They should be keeping tabs on what's going on with their contestants. If they aren't then it demonstrates that they don't really care about them.
They shouldn't be referring to press reports to find out what's going on with their own show.

Well that one injury in itself should be enough.
Are we to gauge how acceptable it is based on how many broken necks there are?
Two? Ten? Six?
You say 'only' as if that one injury isn't significant because there's only one.

Yep, and while we're about the Grand National can be scrapped too- oh yeah but I forgot, it's only horses breaking their necks in that so it doesn't matter.

People aren't forced to take part in The Jump.

I don't know what to make of that reply.
You seem to be kind of making out that I support The Grand National and horses having their necks broken,.....therefore humans breaking their necks in this is fine as they weren't forced to take part.

What on earth makes you think I'd be dead set against the Grand National being scrapped?

This is one show where I'd say that the contestants don't really know what they're in for.
I think they'll trust that good people will be looking after them to ensure that they're as safe as can be, they'll be assuming that safety will be of prime concern for the show, and naturally believe that the show wouldn't allow crew members to get in the path of contestants during training jumps.

I think it will be next year when people will question the mental faculties of celebrities who choose to take part.

Oh my god!!! I really thought you must have been joking.

Hang on a minute while I pinch myself to see if I'm dreaming.
Anything that can go wrong seems to be going wrong.

Really though, how well is this show handling itself if it's bringing in new celebrities who haven't been training like the original celebrities have?

There are no words...

At least that's one poster's wish from earlier in the thread sorted.

Channel 4, Paralympics Broadcaster.

I understood that Joe and the other new participants are having intensive training and will be assessed on their levels of skill and ability to take part in the show before Sunday.

I am pretty sure that they know what they are in for when they sign up for the show. Even I know that winter sports of any kind are potentially dangerous and need to be taken seriously at whatever level.
