So basically if you do the ski jump and land it you're in then, what a farce lol
That's it they should now all do the ski jump they have been out there long enough.

If a woman with one leg can give it a go then there is no reason why a tough ex-rugby player shouldn't.

Why is it? They have the choice which jump they do; if they go for the easier one, they know they're going to be at a disadvantage. Seems fair enough to me.
I see what you mean when you put it like that

I think it was Davina bigging it up like Sarah might have beaten Heather's jump length that made it seem silly.

They are cheap if the show returns next year we will probably see Gemma Collins and White Dee jumping.

Heather did The Jump last year, plus she's an experienced skier (she was on a ski holiday a week before joining this year's series). Ben presumably hasn't got any previous ski jumping experience, and I'm not sure he has any skiing experience. Also, would Heather be allowed to do the air jump, given that she has a prosthetic leg, which could damage the inflatable landing pad. She might also be unable to tuck her prosthetic leg up, so that would make the air jump an issue for her.

It seems a bit daft comparing ski and air jumps. It's like combining the result of long jump and high jump competitions in athletics to get a result!

Who's still on this show, its very confusing??
Who's still watching it more like? I gave up tonight and decided that enough was enough after last week, and went and watched the Sport Relief charity darts pairings on BBC2 which at least offered a lot more action.....and absolutely NO injuries!

There seems to have been so many cast changes that I can't recall any of these in the first episode
If anyone missed it last week they'd tune in to tonight's show and think "Who on earth are these people?"

I caught around 7 minutes just before the end.
Lets hope if its back the producers realise a weekly format isn't going to work
and get people who actually train. Even the Air jumps are still woeful there's no wonder they aren't risking hard landings.

Didn't need to talk to Joe.
Davina needed to talk to Joe so that she could tell us all how we all love him and think he's a wonderful guy. Just like how we all loved Arg.

That seems to be Davina's presenting style, to tell the audience that they love who she loves.

You can take the girl out of Big Brother, but you can't take Big Brother out of the girl.

You could probably slide a 75kg sack of spuds down that air jump and it would rise to a decent comparable height. It's nothing more than the simple rule of motion, physics and gravity!

How can you compare the air jump and the ski jump?????
Exactly what confused me too.
They even directly compared Heather's ski jump of 14 metres to Sarah's air jump of 8 metres plus.
How does that work?

So would would happen if Sarah had jumped 9 metres in height in the air jump, and Heather jumped 13 metres in length in the ski jump?
Would Sarah have won then, or what?

Absolutely nothing is explained when it matters.

The metres count, should have done the ski jump but more risk of falling.
If that's the case then why did they flash graphics up on the screen showing what Heather had jumped, only to have us waiting in anticipation for the reveal to see how high Sarah jumped? As if it was something to build up excitement to see if Sarah could have beaten Heather.
If what you say is true then trying to make exciting television as we waited to see on the screen what height Sarah had jumped was utterly meaningless as it didn't matter how high she had jumped.

Was there a chance that by some miracle the screen might have revealed that Sarah had jumped 15 metres in height in the air jump or something?

Because they are making it all up as they go along.

Sense? Who needs that.

This why Heather Mills did not attempt the mogul she already knew her Ski jump beat the air jumpers.

The bit where they have them all in a room and announce the pairings is a bit silly.

There's only eight of them, so once the first three pairs have been called out, the last two whose names haven't been called obviously know they're against each other. It's like the FA Cup draw - you know the last two teams left must be playing each other.

But they still call the last two names out in dramatic fashion and the last two react like they somehow didn't know they'd be paired with each other.

I agree with others that the ski jump/air jump thing doesn't make much sense. It's obvious that any ski jump, as long as it meets the legal requirements for it to count, will beat even the best air jump. Even Davina admitted as much last night: "It'll probably come down to one of the last three jumpers because they're all doing the air jump", or words to that effect.

Last year some of the ski jumps were barely over 10 metres (although off a smaller jump) so it is possible that if they have a bad ski jump (lower than 10m) a good air jump (more than 10m) could beat it. I think in reality the highest air jump so far has been just over ten metres. Therefore it is much better to do the ski jump because a poor landed ski jump should always beat a good air jump.

It was incredibly unlikely an air jump would beat a ski jump. However if they had ignored Heathers ski jump and said "oh well Sarah you have def lost to heather let's move on" people would complain about that. I think most viewers would have realised that Sarah would not beat heather.

I had posted before the air jump had happened that it was annoying that Sarah would not beat Heather because of it. I don't think it really matters that they compared them. They did use the ski jump this week which had been a previous criticism. I do wish they had all used the ski jump though but I guess if they are not confident it is better they have an alternative to use.

I thought the whole programme was dire last night.

Davina is becoming more annoying by the minute with her 'dancing' and its all just so naff. Adding in the injuries and the contestants who are really easy to dislike, I'm giving up on it now.

Terrible, tragic trash.

at all the posters saying it's awful and they don't watch anymore but seemingly care enough to come and post about it on an obscure, practically dead part of the DS forums.

I thought that was bad. Training all week (presumably) and then opting not to do the race correctly so giving the other person th victory. Both Sarah and Heather need a slap on the wrists for that - what happened to the spirit of taking part?

I bet the production team were pleased!!

I came to the conclusion last night that apart from the chaotic way that the programme runs the main reason I have yet to invest in the show this year is because the contestants just aren't that likeable.

I did think there was an attempt to improve the running of the programme last night with two of the contestants jumping after two races rather than all at the end of the show. Made more sense.

Sarah did try, she came off the first set of moguls, entirely different to what happened to Heather.
