Sorry, but there is discussion going on in various threads and I certainly don't want to do this on the Change Log, so I thought I'd create a thread for the numerous changes that have been made today for general discussion and observations. I am finding that various sets are treating this in different ways, as usual.

The radio stations have me confused. Most sets have dumped the duplicates in the 790s, so I assume these LCNs are being broadcast. I have found the version of Magic on 715 broadcasting different programming to the version on 795 (which is presumably the original 715 but renumbered). Also, on all the stations that have changed mux, using the correct LCNs, e.g. 715, the sound is muted once the MHEG loads.

It seems that 715 is labelled Magic but the audio is Smooth.

Someone's boobed.

I would guess that your 801 is actually 715 and what is on 715 is actually 795, if you get my drift. Some sets will renumber the channels correctly, others will put the new versions in the 800s because the "correct" LCN is still occupied. A rescan would sort that out so that you were getting Smooth on Magic's LCN of 715

Anyone else getting the problem of the radio audio dropping out when the MHEG loads for the channels moved to ARQ A?

pop+1 has programme info on the EPG.
also CBS Action has now been added to the freeview website along with Trutv +1
but pop +1 has not been added if you us your postcode.

If there really is to be a POP +1 then surely it would be logical for this to be the service available to fewer viewers - i.e. put POP on ARQ A and the +1 channel on the local mux.

They will probably swap the two over when the ARQ A service launches. It would confuse existing viewers if it happened before launch. Just a case of waiting now.

It looks as if the audio quality of the radio channels took a hit at some point. With The Hits, Kiss Fresh, Heat and Kerrang! reduced from 80 kbps mono to 64 kbps mono. Kiss and Magic reduced from 128 kbps JS to 80 kbps mono and Kisstory reduced from 128 kbps JS to 64 kbps mono.

Only time you listen to radio stations on Freeview is on holiday in the UK. Rest of the time you listen online.

Has the Quest + 1 logo (ch. 38) always had the +1 before the channel name?

Yes.

PS - summary of changes now in Change Log, thanks to Greebo.

The audio setup on 715 Magic is a bit odd. On my Technika HD box, pressing the Audio button shows 2 apparent streams, one Left only and one Right only. They will point to the same stream though.

Sorry all, didn't spot this thread. Thanks kasg for linking to it from the changelog.

chrisy: the POP+1 LCN has been deleted from G_MAN. The audio and video PIDs have been removed already as well, I guess they aren't worried about continuity of service for those few who watched it on G_MAN and haven't rescanned.

To overview the current spectrum situation:

There is no space currently on COM4 for ITVBe to launch. Going theory on the forums is Quest will get booted off, but not confirmed.

Quest +1's old slot on COM5 is now vacant, with both Pop +1 and TruTV +1 needing space. One or both will have to timeshare, maybe with each other.

COM6 is broadcasting enough null packets for a 24 hour stream. This is probably going to be CBS Action.

COM7 is full, with TBA 136 taking the final SD slot.

GImux once again has a spare slot thanks to the departure of Pop +1.

Overall, after all the near-future changes and launches, the main DTT multiplexes will be completely full. Arqiva is advertising the availability of multiple slots from mid-November, so some channels are to disappear from our screens.

Or compression has got better .... My bet is on another stream at least on each multiplex.

Holy moly - Kisstory and Kiss Fresh sound absolutely horrid! Well I guess it's a preview of what they might unfortunately sound like if they launch on DAB eh?
