I'm just glad she beat that boring, miserable and overrated Kim.

Nah, in all fairness I loved Edith. Her voice is unique and I enjoyed listening to her on Fame Academy. So yey for Edith!

She had much more OOOMMPH than Kim, who seemed to rather like herself to me.

WELL DONE EDITH!!!!

It took me til the final to realise what made Edith win.
All Kims performances were boring ballads, fair enough she has a great voice but ballads is all she is suited for.
Edith on the other hand is more upbeat. Going for The carpenters to Oasis and still doing a good job is commendable.
Whatever Edith sings she pulls it off.

Plus, for an upbeat final, would you rather have a slow ballad, or upbeat Oasis tune?!

As a singer myself it is MUCH easier singing ballads than an up-beat song - that says a lot to me about who has the most talent. Most people who can sing in tune can pull off a ballad or two! Would've been interesting to see if Kim could've sung Shout with as much power and 'balls' as Edith!

Jesus Christ, some people never stop with the anti-Edith. She deserved to win because she was the best singer, the best performer of the two finalists, and also she's much more attractive than Kim

Overpriase for Edith has been a weird feature of CR FA throughout. Orangeman even said Edith was the "most original". But, like, how? Her interpretations were not unusual in any interesting way.

Or, as above, "Her voice is unique". In a sense, eveyone's voice is unique. What was so interestingly different about Edith's? Maybe her fans haven't listened to enough different music.

Edith just seemed a very good karaoke singer to me, and since her fans are keen to point out that that's virtually all the "singing experience" she's had, that opinion shouldn't be surprising.

As for the claim that it's easier to sing ballads, it's not easier to sing them as well as Kim did.

I beg to differ, but that's rubbish. Not everyone's voices are unique. It is possible for people to sound similar, and that is one of the things that lets singers down. If they sound just like everybody else, why give them a record deal?

I've been to a lot of music showcases and gigs, talent competitions and karaoke nights. Every single time I go there is a 'Kim', a girl who never varies what songs she sings and always goes for the soppy ballads and is never adventurous, has a voice that is technically good but just the same as every other karaoke singer, and who will go nowhere in the music industry for those reasons.

Kim is just not unique in any sense of the word. Edith, on the other hand, is. Her style is different, she varies what she does and her voice doesn't sound like anyone else's. Although Debra's voice really got on my nerves, hers was unique, too. But Kim... meh. Rubbish.

What I hated about her though was her false modesty. She was the only one to say that she hadn't thought what she would do if she won. Why? Because she thought she would.

PrincessClairey I think you'll find that Veri is in fact correct that each person's voice is unique it's to do with the voice box. and to be fair it takes more control of the voice box to be able to actually sing a ballad as a ballad has to be in tune where as the type of song Edith sung during CFA gave more room for slight tuning faults (notice I said slight before you think I'm having a go about her) as was quite evident when Edith tried to sing a ballad and Kim tried to sing a more up beat type of song they both sounded out of tune.

She was all right, but not in the same league as the redhead kid from Girls Aloud, let alone Lulu!

Similar but not the same. Edith's voice is also similar to many others.

If any of them sound like a good karaoke singer, it's Edith. There's nothing interestingly different in her interpretations either. The world is full of wannabee rock chicks who sound much like Edith.

How can you think Edith's voice doesn't sound like anyone else's?

Perhaps you just don't listen to enough different kinds of music.

I thought Kim was a much better singer than Edith, although who knows what this competition was about. When anybody says Kim was better people tend to remark that it was all for charity and somehow it is unfair to query the winner, following that by saying Edith was better!
I wonder if people confuse an actor with their role in a soap opera after all Sam Mitchell is not a very nice character. I read that when Delta Goodram went into Neighbours she insisted on playing a nice character, presumably knowing this would influence her sales and her perception.

I thought Edith was great. Glad she won.
I think that Kim is probably a better singer, but i prefer Edith's voice, if that makes any sense.

Perfect sense. Their voices had different qualities. Edith also in general seemed a more contemporary person. I thought Kim had a voice probably more suited to musicals whilst Edith is more of a rock chick.
I also find Richard Parks' hysterical praising of one person and downgrading of the others tends to put me off them. Lesley, of course, tended to hysterically praise all of them so that was all right!

whats with all this hate kim lol I Thought Kim was fantastic and she did have the best voice there no-one can say she couldnt sing! on the other hand i loved edith's voice i was obviosuly rooting for kim and wanted her to win and when i heard Edith's name i was shocked but in my head thinking 'well done'. this was for charity it didnt matter who won. and i also think too many people are confusing Kim Medcalf with Sam Mitchell 2 totally different people guys!

I liked them both and thought Kim was fantastic but I personally prefer Edith. More my kind of voice if you get what I mean? I would prefer to buy an album of Edith than of Kim.
