Hi

I have noticed that the Demand 5 app on my Samsung Smart TV does not show all the available TV programmes compared to the version I have on my Windows 8 PC, is it suppose to be like that and if not what can I do about it?

Any help would be great and thanks in advance.

It is probably meant to be like that. Whether it is Samsung or Channel 5 or a combination of the two behind the differences is anyone's guess.

The same is probably true of the BBC iPlayer app on the TV. That likely looks very different to the web based service you'd get to from a PC. Certainly the case on my TV anyway.

Doubt there is much you can do about it.

I wouldn't have thought so.

Presumably it's down to the broadcaster what programmes they make available on the various catch-up services?, people need to understand that computer versions and TV/set-top box versions are entirely different.

OK, thanks I thought it might be the case probably some sort of DRM issue or something.

Unlikely to be that. After all what is the difference in real terms between watching a programme directly on the telly using a built in app and watching the same programme on the same telly but via a PC plugged into it via an HDMI lead?

There may be the odd programme where the rights holder (which often is not the broadcaster of the programme) does not make it available for streaming but more than likely in that case it would be barred from all streaming options not just Smart TV apps.

It's all down to the licensing of content and how much they're willing to pay to make it available on all devices.
