Well, for £10 it may be "technically" at the end of its life, but since it costs the price of a single main course at a cheap restaurant - which is at the end of its life when you finish the plate 15minutes after starting - it is still great value for money.
That said, since none of the UK catch-up services mentioned, BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, Demand 5 and 4oD play in anything above 720p, with no clear indication they will in the near future, it is not really at the end of its life at all.
And the Amazon Fire TV, as great as it is (and I'm not knocking it), may not even be considered alive since outside of Demand 5, it doesn't have any major UK catch-up services.
It is one thing to consider the Now TV box at the end of its life - but at least it has a life when considering FTA catch-up services.
Now, lets just say person a: wanted to watch the BBC iPlayer, 4oD and ITV Player, would you still recommend they spend £50 or £100 on an Amazon Fire TV? Or spend £10 on a Now TV box, and when those services arrive on the Amazon Fire TV, give the £10 box away (since it costs next to nothing) and
then buy the Amazon Fire TV, or would you recommend they still buy the Amazon Fire TV, despite not being able to watch their favourite shows?
