I see well Im not saying you shouldnt have or anything it just didnt quite make sense!
I am surprised that you were able to order one from them direct from the BBC like that when they havent released the US one yet, I dont blame you for wanting one though!
I personally think they should have made more as there will be a lot of disappointed fans whether now or in the future who would want this one and now cant have it!

I really, really wanted The 5(ish) Doctors Reboot.

And they said that I could return it if it didn't play over here.

Neither the box cover nor the individual inlays nor the discs themselves bear any information as to region coding - no 'A', 'B', 'C' or 'ABC' symbol at all at all.

Sweet.

Thank you very much. Now, hopefully, it will arrive by ship sometime before October.

I see fair enough, the Five(ish) Doctors Reboot is good and I'm glad to finally have it too! Did you see it on TV?

I saw it on the Internet. Apart from The Day of The Doctor, I thought that it was the best thing about the 50th Anniversary.

Hey, my box set showed up today! I can confirm that it is not Region restricted. However, it won't play on the PS3 or on the Blu-Ray player in the bedroom, but it does play on my computer. How odd. I can't quite put my finger on it. It just seems as if the regular players are looking for something, a code or a hook or permission to proceed, that they can't find and the screen just sits there in black.

Thus, it looks as if I will have to purchase The Time of The Doctor separately, then (so that I can watch it with others on the T.V.). But at least I can watch all of the extras stuff on my computer (including The 5ish Doctors Reboot).

Why not get it relayed to your TV? Im guessing that you have a HDTV if you have a BluRay player, does your TV have a VGA port on? if not could you get a HDMI graphics adapter for your computer? ether way you should be able to plug your computer into your TV at the highest resolution your TV will support, meaning you can play the disks on your computer and watch on your TV.
You could even have a long cable from wherever the computer is to wherever the TV is or get a wireless HDMI sender or something, whichever way you want it it should work out.

Im glad you got it ok and it plays on something you have!

It's probably because the set is 1080i and intended for UK buyers That particular format isn't generally supported by domestic equipment in the US. Computers are a whole different ball game.

You've effectively got three choices.

1) Send it back for a refund - might not be accepted as it's opened and you didn't check the specifications before purchase.
2) Get a TV and player that can handle 1080i discs.
3) Keep using your computer.

Be careful as a pc will play any region disc but it will only play those from now on.

BluRay is different from DVD in how it handles regions especially on PC.
DVD could only be changed a certain number of times, BluRay is supposed to not have that restriction.

There is probably a move to releasing content on a more worldwide basis negating the reasons for regions, especially if the release is done at the same time worldwide.
This is possible as HD the same worldwide expect in its refresh rates which all HD devices can handle all rates that HD supports.
