Khali Best Not Returning To EastEnders

Earlier this year, EastEnders bosses had suspended Khali Best from the soap for three months, apparently due to bad behaviour.

Best has now revealed that he made the decision not to return as his character, Dexter Hartman. He said he made the decision due to Dexter not having enough storylines to get into, and his character was proving unsuccessful with the public.

Dexter first appeared in January 2013 as the son of already established character, Ava Hartman [Clare Perkins]. His main storyline during his course on the show was his relationship with estranged father Sam James [Cornell S John], who tracked him down in the hopes of a kidney transplant. More recently, viewers saw him set his eyes on Nancy Carter [Maddy Hill].

Several Cast Changes Announced

EastEnders have announced that many characters will be returning, departing or coming to The Square, in a bid to hopefully move the show forward.

Liam Butcher [James Forde] and Whitney Dean [Shona McGarty] are the first characters revealed to be leaving. The eldest two of Bianca’s brood will be making their departure alongside Bianca butcher [Patsy Palmer] and their younger siblings Tiffany [Maisie Smith] and Morgan [Devon Higgs]. Dominic Treadwell-Collins has revealed that the decision was made after realizing that the family unit would not work without each other, and having them leave together would be a ‘fitting ending’ to where they’ve come since 2008, when Bianca returned to EastEnders.

It has also been revealed that Alfie Moon [Shane Richie] will also be leaving The Square as a part of the fire storyline coming up. Richie’s departure will leave on-screen girlfriend Kat Slater [Jessie Wallace] struggling to cope with her three children and her life after the fire.

Matt Di Angelo, who plays Dean Wicks, is also going to be leaving the show. Dean’s exit has been confirmed to be surrounding his upcoming storyline with his aunt Linda Carter [Kellie Bright].

Derek Martin will also be returning for a brief period as Charlie Slater, before returning permanently later on. His first return will be alongside on-screen daughter Kacey Ainsworth as Little Mo. Gillian Wright who plays Jean Slater, will be making a permanent return on Friday, with her previously returning in August to visit daughter Stacey [Lacey Turner] and convince her to appeal her prison sentence.

There is also news that two new characters have been cast as part of the Slater family, but details surrounding them are yet to be released.

The Butcher’s are finishing packing ready to join Terry and the kids in Milton Keynes. Carol is refusing to talk to her daughter for leaving her just after beating cancer. Sonia arrives to say goodbye to her family, and is also scolded by Carol for letting Bianca go along with moving. Bianca leaves the house to meet Kat in the café, while Whitney goes to see Lee. At the café, Kat and Stacey are talking about what will happen once they’ve been evicted, both of them struggling to come up with a solution. Bianca comes in and sits down with Kat and Stacey leaves to see if she can find somewhere they can stay. Kat initially seems fine with Bianca leaving but when asked if she’s going to be alright, Kat says she needs to get back for the twins.

After spending the night at Max’s, Liam refuses to leave the house as he doesn’t want to leave Carol behind after everything she’s been through. Abi talks to Liam and tells him that Carol is fine now and that moving will be a new start, and his family will always still be here if he needs them. The pair then leave to join their family before they leave.

Whitney arrives at the Vic and asks to talk to Lee. Lee and Whitney talk about breaking up, which he accepts after realising her family comes first and moving will be a great opportunity for her. Whitney says goodbye to Lee and Johnny before making her way to the park.

Kat joins Carol in the kitchen and starts talking about Bianca leaving. Carol tells Kat that Bianca is being selfish by leaving her alone with nobody to look after her, but Kat reassures her that Milton Keynes isn’t too far and that her family is still all around her in Walford. She then tells her that if she lets her go without saying goodbye then she will regret it for the rest of her life. Kat then leaves Carol to think over things.

At the park, Whitney is saying goodbye to her niece. Lily goes to play and Stacey tells Whitney that she will always be a part of her life, and that she will bring Lily to come visit her at some point. Whitney thanks Stacey and says a final goodbye to Lily, before they go back to the Butcher’s.

Carol realises how stupid she has been and rushes out to say goodbye to her daughter. When Carol gets out the house she tells Bianca that she knows why she’s moving, and that she approves. The mother and daughter then have a heartfelt goodbye. The Butcher’s cab arrives ready to take the family to their new home. Bianca, Whitney, Liam, Tiffany and Morgan then leave the Square, with their friends and family watching on.
