Steam cookers - looking for recommendations

I usually avoid the kitchen like the plague, but for some time now I've been intrigued by electric steam cookers. They seem like they would be extremely easy to use - just chuck stuff in, set the timer and wait; and I very much enjoy steamed veggies, rice and chicken. So it appears, in theory at least, that they would be perfect for me. I wouldn't have to touch the stove top nor pots and pans, and yet I would still be able to cook tasty, healthy meals.
But I would like to hear from people who have actually used them - are they any good or will it just end up cluttering my cupboard while I order take-away or ask my OH to cook dinner?
From reading a bit online, it seems like people usually prefer those thingies you put inside a pot or a pan when they want to steam something, but I think I would like an electric one more, it just seems simpler to use.
Are they good enough for cooking meat (fish, chicken) and what should I pay attention to when choosing the one I want to buy (there are so many different models out there)?

I always use a steamer to cook veg and have had Tefal ones in the past but they have discontinued the one I had that had same sized baskets.
The ones I have seen now have different size baskets so you can't move the bottom one to the top and so on so depending what you cook in the top basket it can take a long time or they are undercooked so I have gone back to a stainless steel one that goes on the gas hob.
Rice cooks better in the Microwave in a rice cooker than in the steamer.

Thanks for the advice. I really want to buy one but it seems impossible to pick one because there are so many different ones available. I guess I'll just have to do it the old fashioned way - buy the one that looks pretty!
