Sunday 1st February - BBC Radio 5 Live

Darren Fletcher presented 5 Live NFL from the University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona

American Football: Super Bowl XLIX
New England Patriots v Seattle Seahawks - Darren Fletcher and Rocky Boiman (11.20pm GMT commentary), with contributions from Alistair Kirkwood between quarters and Haydn Parry producing

Apparently NFL UK managing director Alistair Kirkwood also contributed to 5 Live NFL's coverage of the AFC Championship Game two weeks ago. At half-time, not only did they break for news and sports bulletins but they stuck with Up All Night's Dotun Adebayo for reports about the release of Peter Greste during the Halftime Show. However, they didn't break for the news between the 1st-2nd and 3rd-4th quarters.

Westwood One

Jim Gray and Scott Graham presented The NFL on Westwood One alongside Rod Woodson and Kurt Warner

American Football: Super Bowl XLIX
New England Patriots v Seattle Seahawks - Kevin Harlan and Boomer Esiason (6.20pm EST commentary), with Mark Malone and James Lofton reporting from the sidelines

Jim Gray hosted Westwood One's pre-match at half-time coverage, while Scott Graham presented their post-game hour as well as their preview show earlier in the day. Larry Fitzgerald and Mark Holmgren also contributed as pundits at various points, with Patriots quarter-back Tom Brady's pre-recorded contributions (a regular feature of Westwood One's Monday Night Football broadcasts) airing during the course of their coverage.

American Football: Super Bowl XLIX
New England Patriots v Seattle Seahawks - Will Gavin

Will Gavin, who in 2013/14 hosted Absolute Radio 90s' NFL coverage, was live at the University of Arizona Stadium in Glendale, Arizona to provide udates during Extra Time with Russell Hargreaves and Toby Gilles. I'm guessing Will wasn't there primarily for talkSPORT, but given that he's a former producer of the weekend edition of Extra Time he was clearly their go-to guy at the game and it was good that they were able to get him involved with their show.

talkSPORT's updates from the Australian Open were unusual in that on the days when Andy Murray was playing, they had regular progress reports from his matches, yet on days when he wasn't in action coverage was limited to as little as a round-up on the day's play thus far during overnight show Extra Time. I believe that Luddy was on-site in Melbourne for his eponymous audio agency.

I can't remember a previous year when 5 Live didn't broadcast the half-time entertainment from the Super Bowl. It can't have just been because of the release of a journalist that happened earlier in the day and so would presumably have been covvered earlier.

Anyway it was an excellent match and I would recommend people who missed it listen to it again via the 5 Lie website. I listened to 5 Live during ad breaks.

Thursday 12th February - talkSPORT

Andy Goldstein presented The Sports Bar alongside Jason Cundy and Stephen Hendry

Snooker Shoot-Out Draw - Stephen Hendry drew the "home" player and Jason Cundy drew the "away" player, with Andy Goldstein confirming the names and World Snooker press officer Ivan Hirschowitz overseeing the draw

Stephen Hendry was Andy and Jason's studio guest for one of their in-depth Thursday night interviews as well to do the draw. Apparently the draws for the past two editions of the Snooker Shoot-Out have been conducted on The Sports Bar as well, although this is the first time it has come to my attention.

What a pleasure to hear one of the finest sports commentators around in Gerard Whateley. He's my favourite play-by-play AFL commentator along with Tim Lane and Dennis Cometti and his nightly AFL 360 show is excellent viewing.

BBC Radio Wales - Rick O'Shea hosted from BT Murrayfield with commentary from Nick Webb and Dafydd James (All frequencies / Online)

BBC Radio Cymru - Eleri Siôn hosted from BT Murrayfield with commentary from Cennydd Davies and Emyr Lewis

(A massive reduction in the amount of people BBC Cymru/Wales take to Scotland there!)

BBC 5 Live - Andy Gillies
BBC 5LSX - Chris Jones and Gavin Hastings
BFBS Radio - Stuart Cameron

In the programme that aired before the start of Radio Wales Sport, there was a brilliant 5/6 interview with Huw Llwellyn Davies (today, at his first time there as a fan) who told us of the many stories surrounding his time with the late Ray Gravell in the mid-80s when they were then working for the new S4C channel.
