Carmel has had her fair share of lovers over the years but I don't agree with the pairing of her and Sonny. Sonny is Calvin's brother and from day one it was evident they were going to get together. Are we supposed to forget Jim who Carmel said, "understood her," and was her true love? Because she said the same thing to Calvin too. I don't like the fact that straight after Jim died, she leapt into his arms. I wonder if she will split with Sonny or if he'll leave when she exits.

I am glad there is a thread on this. Yes Carmel and Sonny's relationship is so odd. What got me this week is that in the last episode with Sonny and Grace Carmel seemed to be actually unaware of anything that was happening in her family or in the village generally. She seemed to be living on her own little planet.
I think Carmel might be leaving at the end of next week to go live with Myra and maybe Sonny will be leaving too. I can't think of much of a reason they both be so oblivious to everything unless they won't feature much.

It always seems that Carmel has been written as a standalone character recently like they are doing it for her exit to say that she wants to move away from everything if you get my drift and feels as if being with Myra is the best choice.

I think BK has really regressed Carmel. When ES was in charge she gave Carmel a much need reinvigoration by giving her the facial disfigurement storyline and having her fall for Jim but BK came in and erased all of that development and then erased Jim. I loved Carmel and Jim as a couple and I hate that she forgot about him so easily for that awful Sonny. I don't know what she's supposed to see in him.

Although perhaps the actress who plays Carmel has wanted to leave for sometime and BK has known that. It seems this weeks episodes really reflect that she is leaving.

I think that only Jim and Aleksander (the guy who married Jacqui in order to stay in the country) were Carmel's most believable partners.

Agreed - she got her face fixed (awful decision) and she was back to being a vacuous bimbo again .

Alek he'll always be her real love to me.

It still annoys me that they dumped the Barney/Carmel romance. That was really sweet and had good potential.

I loved Carmel and Jim. Carmel is just like a ghost character now, just hanging around the place.

Agreed. I loved Barney and Tom Scurr. They couldn't even be bothered to give him a proper exit. Nothing on screen for months then one phonecall and he's off never to be seen or spoke of again.
