CS: Darryl Morton
Anyone remember him?
He was the longest serving Morton (I actually liked that family) and didn't really have many storylines but he could've been good if they gave him a chance. |

I remember he was kept on when the rest of his family were axed but then hardly did anything with him and left not long after. The best person in that Morton family was Theresa the mother, a potential Corrie classic character if they had kept her on.

The Mortons were given such a raw deal. They could have been great, just not given a chance at all. They all needed their own stories, they were isolated from most of the Street and it showed. Individually, Jerry, Jodie and Darryl were all strong characters. Jerry's stories weren't great, he never suited Eileen or Gail but he was a likeable character. They should've just sent the kids off with Teresa, and focused on Jerry and the twins. Though I'd have sacrificed Mel if Jodie had stuck around.

Theresa was the only bearable Morton (in spite of the daft plot where she poisoned Sinbad)

Teresa was the best of the whole bunch and I was gutted to see her leave the Street. Darryl was OK but it was inevitable that they were going to dump him once they packed Amber off to uni.

They turned the mother from a psycho attempted murderer to a comedy character. It was just stupid.
Then again they did the same with Tracey |

I liked him with Amber, and his friendship with David was good. He was basically replaced with Graeme.

Used to like Darryl too, he was like a slightly less unique version of Graeme, just a regular young lad. The entire Morton family had potential in my opinion and it's annoying when they're dismissed as Corrie's worst ever family by some people. They all mostly had their own (unfortunately somewhat underdeveloped) characters and had the potential to be far superior to what we got with the Windasses who succeeded them if they'd received better writing and characterisation in my opinion.

He was a decent lad who had no hidden agendas and was quite likeable. The actor who played him doesn't appear to have done much TV work since- much like Emma Edmondson who played Mel. The actress who played young Kayleigh, however, has probably done the best of the whole family as she has appeared in several films.

I liked Sinbad and the girl who was a copper (I think) but the rest were woeful and the family stunk because they just seemed like they were there for the sake of being there rather than having a purpose.

I really liked the Mortons', Darryl, Theresa and Mel were my favourites. I really wished they kept Darryl on as he was good comedy character and I liked his friendship with David, I thought he was good with Amber, a pity she went off Uni.
Mel had potential for being a good character too, she was hard working and probably the only Morton who had any ambition in life, the actress was quite good too. I enjoyed how she didn't wanted to be associated with the rest of the Mortons when she was training to be a police officer. Does anyone remember the creepy Grandad? Loved the fight between Liz and Theresa over Lloyd

It seems quite surreal to think that "Sinbad" was Lizzie or Nessa's dad! ![]()

I really liked Jerry and Theresa, didn't care too much for the rest of the family though. Either way the Mortons were better than the awful Windass/Armstrong clan we have now.

I liked Darryl, along with his mother. They worked well together, it was a pity he was axed and Teresa left not long after.
