Sounds like the only way Dean will leave will be in a coffin.

I'm glad they're going to make the outcome realistic. The conviction rates for rape are pitifully low.

It definitely sounds as though Matt came back for longer than a year and doesn't know what will happen. I like this as it means he may not leave. As a Dean fan it's also promising to know that Dean will not think that he raped Linda - therefore maybe his mental health will be explored and we will finally find out more about his time in prison.
A closed set and 6 hours of rehearsal time - wow! It makes it clear how much EE have invested in this story and that's good to know as it's a storyline that needs to be told. |

V interesting comments from Matt there. Makes me "look forward" (if thats the appropriate phrase) to this plotline.

Part of me thinks Dean might try and make it look like he and Linda had a one night stand and that she is lying about the rape to save her marriage
The whole Linda going to her Mum's because of the Ian/Rainie situation could make Mick more insecure and make Mick more inclined to believe she has cheated. Maybe this could lead to a big Carter xmas where they split and Mick tries to drown himself before Shirley rushes in to save him and announces she's his mum |

Judging from the interview it seems Dean himself will believe it was a one night stand.

Has this ever been written in soap before? Where the rapist genuinely believes it was consensual?

Gilly said that initially, but he ended up admitting to it, didn't he?

Dean will be leaving. Matt just admits he doesn't know what the ending will be yet.
They will not keep a rapist on screen. |

This should be good as Matt and Kellie are good actors. It'll be a shame if Dean leaves early.

I'm dreading this storyline. I really, really don't want it to happen.

To me, it doesn't sound as though Matt knew about the storyline when he agreed to return. From what Matt said on Sunday Brunch, it sounded as though he had a choice to do the storyline or not, so I think he was being brought back anyway.
If I'm right, this makes it more interesting - was he only brought back for a year anyway or is this storyline going to dictate that? Could he stay beyond a year? |

I think it might be more akin to the Gilly/Jacqui rape on Hollyoaks where they both really had completely different perceptions of what occured
