Has Dee expressed an interest in working with old people in a care home?

I certainly don't think it's a job for which everyone is suited. She has admitted she lacks patience - I wouldn't think she's contemplated it as a career but then I really don't know.

She is living amongst 'peers' in a house - she has been short tempered and bitchy at times but she's not at work - she's not been trained to look after people with specific needs, she's not being paid to 'care' for someone.

It's a bit of an irrelevant question IMO. Personally with the right training I think she'd be OK - who knows?

She often referred to herself as 'the Mum of the street' who everyone went to when they had a problem. Her door was apparently always open and cups of tea were doled out to anyone needing her time and support.

She presented herself as patient, understanding, compassionate, kindly and giving. Even in the scene where she apologised to Gary for - well we'll never know, maybe being told off by BB - she asserted that "that's not me."

The image she has of herself and the one she's presented to the world on TV, and importantly upon which her fame and celebrity status is founded, is it seems false.

Audley the boxer and Lauren the self-preoccupied ninny, are both considerably nicer, kinder and more understanding people.

Dee is quite a disappointment to those of us who would have loved to have been able to support her in the house, based on what we believed of her prior to her entry. But her 'caring' persona has slipped completely off.”

I don't particularly like Dee - I think that she's far too self opinionated, coarse and vulgar - however for all these comments, contradicting those who actually know her in RL and, in some cases complete character assassinations of how she would abuse elderly people left in her care are appalling.

There is a vast difference between being a professional trained "carer" for elderly, diasabled, incapacitated or those with mental health issues and being a "carer" in terms of caring for friends and family meaning showing concern and trying to help and support them.

The "Gary Good, other HMs Bad" mantra is getting absurd...

I'm not sure why you have chosen to quote my post here, as you seem to be responding to a variety of things that may have been posted by others elsewhere in the thread?

My post didn't assassinate Dee's character, I do think her 'caring' persona has slipped dramatically this series compared to how she was presented in Benefits Street - I can of course only go on how I've seen her behave, like everyone does when watching BB. And I specifically wasn't discussing her suitability as a professional carer, simply how she's been presented as a 'caring' character on TV. Oh, and I wasn't promoting Gary as a 'good guy' either.

I just wanted to clarify those things.

I would trust her to do it, if Gary was in a care home then the carers would know he needed care. He is in the Big Brother House so the others do not know what his special needs are and they haven't had training to deal with him. Nurses do not have to live with the patients for 24 hours a day.

Also, when you deal with people in a professional setting you behave differently to how you would in your personal life. For example, if you work in a call centre you have to remain calm and patient with extremely rude people but if someone spoke to you like that out of work you might not react the same way.
