She always go running after Phil and when Phil kissed her, she didn't reject him and she was acting like a lovesick puppy. I miss strong Shirley!

I was just saying this on the other thread! I like Phil and Shirley but only if they are equal. I want her to wise up to him! Time to bring ballsy Shirley back, I miss her!!

Why do TPTB keep ruining the strong women?!

Any character male or female is ruined when they get involved in a Philth storyline simply because of TPTB's pathetic obsession with him remaining King Shit of Walford.

I liked her being there for Phil and she was a good confidante but I couldn't believe Shirley was happy to let Phil kiss her and have sex. She should know that Phil is not thinking properly and he's angry with Sharon.

Who knows, she's utter pondlife just like Phil. Nothing she loves better than covering up a murder for him as her long history of doing so goes to prove.

I like that too but I hate how they make her act like a lovesick teen over him. They are good confidants to each other but when they keep doing this, it grates!

Agreed. Why do they have Sharon and Shirley pitted against each other over Phil? I reckon they could have been a formidable duo! Someone needs to castrate old Phillip. Ha! They even have Sharon forgiving Phil. He is ruining Sharon and Shirley - the writers need to sort this out!

It's utter shit the way they write a 50 year old woman swooning after a deadbeat shyster like Philth.

Does my head in. She brings the heartache on herself! I KNOW she loves him but FGS you've got to have some self-respect. She declared her love one day and he proposed to Sharon the next! I get it that some say it was a guilt proposal but at the end of the day HE DIDN'T HAVE TO DO IT, especially when he knew Shirley would be hurt. Even with that (and all the other horrible things he's done) she STILL goes back. Is it even love or an unhealthy obsession?

Tonight by the way she was holding his face, talking softly etc there is no way in the world he wouldn't have known what she wanted so
Spoiler

To me, Phil was at a very low ebb tonight as he'd just found out about Sharon and then from Shirley found out that Jay has been in touch/actually seen Ben. Two blows in one night. Was she trying to comfort him or taking advantage?!

I don't know. She annoys me so much when it comes to Phil. It sounds like I don't like the character but I find her fascinating but she has enough going on with her family and doesn't need all this Phil stuff.

Agreed! I like them but I'd don't like the way they write her around him! I'd like to see Andy (Mick's dad) come in and win Shirley's heart. Grant can come back for Sharon and Phil can go and sit on the naughty step and think about what he has done!

Phil will never respect Shirley, because Shirley has no respect for herself. She hangs around Phil like a bad smell, even after he covered up the murder of her best mate, and treated her like dirt for years. Any woman with an ounce of self-respect wouldn't touch Phil with a barge pole after that, but Shirley is just desperate. It's tragic.

Phil is fond of Shirley, in the way one might be find of a dog. But he doesn't love her, he just uses her for occasional sex.

What is this about? whose murder did she cover up? Ben confessed to Heather's right after Shirley found out he was responsible for it. If you mean she covered up Phil's involvement that doesn't amount to covering up a murder.

and of course princess Sharon would never keep quiet about a murder would she?

I think Shirley is such a doormat because she wants to be loved, something that it appears she has never had or felt in her life. That's why she's so soft with Phil because she genuinely loves him though whether her love is requited is another thing. She clearly has emotional scarring from her parents and probably due to the fact that she had to treat Mick as a brother rather than a son. I think she just wants a happy family and thinks she can have that with Phil

A long, long string of dead bodies that Shirley has been more than willing to cover up LH.

Take Kevin. Phil sells him dodgy cut and shut motors he knows to be unsafe, Kevin dies in Shirley's arms. Shirley says nothing to protect Phil. Shirley discovers that Ben killed Heather, and that Phil covered it up. Shirley keeps the secret to protect Phil. Phil covers up Ronnie killing Carl, Shirley is chomping at the bit to help him clean out Carl's flat in the hopes that he'll have sex with her.

My idea of a good date night is letting my Katie take me out for a movie and a curry, Shirley's is helping Phil dispose of a murder weapon or tieing breeze blocks to a body and rolling it into the thames.

Utter, utter pondlife scum.

Why would any woman want to be with such a repulsive little thug anyway?

Dave Courtney really did a job on TPTB all those years ago didn't he?

I think she is a doormat. Phil cares about her in his own way, and yes he does go and confide in her, but that's only because he knows she won't go around telling everyone his inner most thoughts. She's someone safe he can go to, in a way he can trust her. Good old dependable Shirley. She doesn't really judge him does she? Maybe that's also a factor.

Surely Shazza qualifies as a door mat too because she stayed with Phil after finding out that he provoked her beloved Dennis into a situation that caused his death.

not denying that Shirley can throw all sense out of the window when it comes to phil but she isn't the only one...

Or maybe she did it because they are friends and she didnt like Carl either. And isn't that particular crime something Phil's current missus is also covering up? this was about a week after she turned him down at christmas, if she was that desperate to have sex with him she would have done it then.

Oh I agree that Sharon is a weakminded fool too. I prefer Shirley anyway, the nasty hypocrites are my absolute favourite characters.

It's really grinding my gears. Tonight really pissed me off. Shirley laying herself on a plate like a Grizzly Stepford Wife/ ****buddy and Sharon deciding to forget her husband's death, being a Watts and being battered over the head. It's like Germaine Greer never happened.

That's because Sharon and Shirley are not mixed up lesbians with nothing better to do, that's all feminism is.

Sorry my octogenarian, Daily Mail reading, UKIP supporting, misogynistic split personality got the better of me.

I do apologise.

I completely agree. She's a strong, spiky, ballsy character on her own, but she turns into a weak doormat with Phil. It's the only reason I dislike them as a couple. If that was to change, so would my opinion.
