Shirley was just desperate tonight! Seriously why would you go for a man who was in the emotional state Phil was in? (ignoring the countless other reasons not to go for Phil Mitchell in the first place)

It was a backward step to me - it reminded me a bit of when she used to get him drunk so that he would sleep with her. I know they've had a proper relationship since then, were engaged and all but Shirley was desperate for his attention back then and she seems desperate for his attention yet again now. She's declared her love and got nowhere so as soon as she had info tonight (about Jay meeting up with Ben) she was round there like a flash desperate for him to notice her again.

To me he wasn't that into her tonight but she came across as all sympathetic, crouching down to his level, holding his face and giving platitudes like 'you deserve better' and it had the desired affect, he was putty in her hands because he was a bit of an emotional wreck. I'm honestly wondering if she took advantage of HIM and for once it's not him using her, lol! He could have pushed her off and said no of course but Shirley was the instigator tonight so can't cry if it all blows up in her face and he drops her like a hot potato again.

The woman just needs to get something battery operated and a course in self respect. Sharon too.

Shirley hasn't achieved much at all, about 50 and still hasn't got her own place

My thoughts exactly. Phil and Shirley bounce off each other and would work really well if they toughened Shirley up around him. Like you say, she is a tough, ballsy, abrasive character but she turns lame when Phil rocks up. That needs to change.

They are just as bad with Sharon, she's already covered up a murder, forgiven him for attacking her and his role in the death of Dennis.

Why do these women just go weak for Phil? They are both behaving like doormatts imo.

Both Sharon and Shirley are hanging on to Phil's coat tails. Without him Sharon would have no home or money.

Phil and Shirley have a chemistry that is lacking between Phil and Sharon, Phil is much more interesting with Shirley, that may be down to the chemistry between Steve and Linda. If the producers would just wise Shirley up to Phil, and stop her taking any crap from him and for Phil wise up and treat her decently then they would really work. I don't think he has ever wanted to admit that he loves her and that's why he keeps her at arms length. Just an observation.

Interesting that Phil was more upset about losing his money than Sharon..

It's really strange that Phil and Sharon have lost the chemistry now. Steve McFadden and Letitia Dean are very close friends in real life and have known each other for over 25 years.

Phil is really upset that Sharon has betrayed him because he never expected her to "stab him in the back". He said to Shirley that Sharon will never love him and knows their relationship is finished. It is controversial but Phil seems to be using Shirley.
I know you won't agree to this because you're a huge Phil and Shirley fan, but I don't think he has ever truly loved Shirley. Shirley Is a perfect woman for him but he just doesn't love her like he did to Kathy and Sharon. Just my opinion but we will have to wait and see who Phil picks between Sharon and Shirley.

Ohh. I'm more of a Shirley fan. I completely accept what you are saying. I think Kathy was the love of his life, not Sharon or Shirley, Sharon was more the 'trophy' bird for him, a prize to be won. Whoever he picks at the end of this will be the one that he 'supposedly' loves the most out of the two imo.

I like both Shirley and Sharon but Phil has better chemistry with Shirley and they both love a sly voddy or two!

Last night proved she is a doormat. Yet again it was her coming on to him after he has refused her how many times? He has cheated on her various times, Heather incident when she found out he attacked her, has threatened her, told her he cant promise fidelity to her and generally abused her anyway he can.
Also and we all might forget this Johnny was in the Albert. One thing if your attacked but your child/grandchild?
So Phil comes before them as well. Sorry but she is a doormat and I have no idea why any woman would champion that. Its actually kinda offensive. I hope most adults would realise that isn't love, its not even basic like.

Don't forget that it was also Shirley who plied Phil (a known alcoholic) with vodka so that he would sleep with her. Desperate is an understatement. Their relationship is deeply unhealthy and abusive.

She clearly has emotional scarring from her parents and probably due to the fact that she had to treat Mick as a brother rather than a son. I think she just wants a happy family and thinks she can have that with Phil”

Er, Kevin loved her and so did her kids before she walked out on them.

Shirley had love with Kevin. She got bored. She left.

She's a doormat for Phil because she recognises a lot of herself in him. The woman is scum and in Phil she has found her perfect match but karmically for her, Shirley is to Phil what Kevin was to Shirley. Someone reliable to be used when needed.

Strong in the fact that she is always face down and drunk in the gutter

Which she will be again

There is NOTHING strong about Shirley.

She's got a big mouth but that's about it. That doesn't make someone a strong character or a strong woman.

So when Sharon dumps Phil is he going to try and get back with Shirley again? Is that the plan because I know at some point he rejects her in the next week or two. But he will go back to Shirley won't he?

She bullies characters she can bully ie hev, jean and creeps around characters she can't ie mick, phil

When ever the going gets tough, you can always depend on Shirley to crawl into a bottle and bury herself in self-pity. That does not a strong woman make.

To be fair she's never really imimdated anyone who could stand up to her, she threatened Rainie and Glenda, that's about it. I loved it when she went to Phil's and Ronnie told her to "Get out" back in June, Shirley thinking she was hard said "Make me" so Ronnie just gave her an icy, threatening look and repeated "Get out". That time she went.

Also, whenever I used to think of the name "Shirley" cute little Shirley Temple used to pop into my head. Now it's a rather unfeminine, rough, potato head shagging drunk.
