I think Shirley has more fans than Cora. I'm warming to Cora. She's an awful old biddy but I do like her recently with Rainie, Stan and Patrick. Shirley was great when she found out about Ev and flushed Ben down the bog. But the whole thing with Phil has nosedived since then and I have no idea why people root for them.

Cora was dreadful with Dexter and Ava, they dragged her down in my opinion. Her and Stan are like an old ASBO couple together
. Tanya Franks is also a great actress so her and Ann Mitchell work well together. Agreed about Shirley.

You're just speaking the truth. Most of the female characters are written to be completely man dependent. The writers can't conceive of having any of them be single for long because there would be no storylines for them as far as the writers are concerned. Oh they could end up with a disease of some sort but that's about it.

Linda should not have taken Mick back. She obviously liked being away from him. Silly Sharon convinced her to give him another chance. Watch him screw her over again. Poor Linda
Ronnie should remain single forever more. I like the idea of an ice queen who needs no man in her life raising her child alone.
I'd like Stacey to settle down eventually but not with the bloody scumbag Ryan! I think they can do more with a single Stacey before she gets together with a bloke.

I don't mind Mick and Linda together but he does treat her like crap compared to his sisters. Stacey would have been good with Dean I think or heaven forfend alone for a bit. Ronnie is on the cusp of greatness I think as a psychotic Malefecent ice maiden. I like Charlie but it would be really dull if they end up having the same mundane relationship angst as everyone else.
I really wanted Sharon to return as a brooding widow who boiled over with rage when she found out the reason for her widow hood but they just made her look ridiculous.
