So i joined Three on a SIM only plan costing £12.90 and after giving it a couple of months i left due to the coverage being rubbish where i live.

I have kept an eye on them though hoping things improve and i have noticed that from the end of this month the plan i was paying £12.90 will be £18

Ill stop looking at what they offer i think.

In that situation I wouldn't even be looking at ANY network until the coverage improved locally, whats the point if you can't use the service anyway because there is no coverage. Its only ever going to be a 'deal' if you can use it.......

Its the same locally for me with O2, great 2G coverage, but if I wanted 3G I would have to drive about 9 miles just to get on the border of "Outdoor Coverage", I stayed with them for three years - strung along by empty promises about all of the huge investment they were planning and how their roll out would bring 3G to the area, that was two years ago, and guess what - nothing has changed.

I suspect you'll be waiting a similar period for Three to improve their coverage (if they ever do at all), so why worry?. Find a better deal with another network that meets your personal requirements and expectations and sign up to it.

Completely agree with Chris while Three is a good network you should always go for the network which is best for you. Where I live I could do with O2 and have a beautiful 2G signal and terrible 3G or Three/EE and a medicore 3G signal. I go with Three because it works well enough and has got a lot better get around 95dbm in my house these days well that and call quality is far superior

I had the same problem with Vodafone. For years I was promised this roll out of great 3G, and before that O2. No noticeable improvements.
In fairness, I wouldn't judge three by the standards of the legacy networks - three do actually tell you they are going to improve something, and in most cases, actually do it. Like with 3.5G and now 4G - they said it was coming to my area of Brum earlier in the year, and it has. You can't ask any more than that.

They now do three in touch where your home wifi is used to transfer calls to the three network
don't know if that helps

You've all missed the point, im on about a product that has risen by £5.10 in the space of a few weeks not whether i can get it or not.

People are in uproar about GiffGaff putting a 3GB cap on their £12 GoodBag where as Three jiggle their prices and no one says anything LOL

On Three I was paying £12.90 for unlimited data, now £13 gets you 1GB of data.

Yes, it's not perfect. I've missed a few texts / forgotten to reply thanks to them being in more than one inbox. It's not the best - but for me, a vast improvement on no coverage at all!

The prices actually changed about 2 months ago (mid July), it's when the new sim only plans came in (and the one plan was stopped). You now get free 0800, cheap 08xx and a tethering allowance up to 4GB in the price (but it is still a substantial increase).

But is it still good value? None of the other networks come close to that plan. And Three offer an unlimited monthly data bolt on (with an amount of texts and minutes) for £15 on payg which is a good idea if you don't need unlimited all the time.

So an extra £61-ish per year then. My Energy Bills go up by roughly the same amount, every time the energy companies increase their prices - which is sometimes as often as twice a year!.

Prices go up, its a fact of life.

The forum was full of warnings and uproar, most sim only three users here are probably on the legacy £15 or £18 one plans.

Yup. I specifically posted about changes to the contract plans and sim only plans before they changed so that consumers on this forum could make an informed decision as to whether they wanted to sign up for an old tariff with certain features or wait and sign up to a new tariff with a different set of features.

We should see some new Broadband plans in the next 1-2 months.

I have lowered my monthly gas and electricity DD from £143 to £113 by simply turning stuff off when it isn't in use.

Plus when the price does go up they dont say oh you are only allowed this much do they

On a network getting a signal and not having to use a shitty app to get texts

Hi,

Can you provide anymore info re the new broadband plans due as I am on paygo at the moment but looking for a three contract for tethering. Is it just mobile Broadband only deals that are due to change.

Thanks
Marina

Another reason for less uproar is that if you were already on the old three plans (I'm on the £15 one-plan thanks to posters here... brilliant) then you will continue to be so for the foreseeable future, so no reason to get upset.

With giffgaff, since it's a PAYG model, any change will affect existing customers very quickly - within a month or so

If you were still a contact customer of Three would your price increase or your allowance change ?

As an existing contract customer your price wouldn't change but on giffgaff all customers are affected either by price increase or allowance reduction.

A existing customer who joined 22/8/2014 pays £12 for unlimited "3G only" data but from the 24/9 it will cost the same customer £18 for unlimited "3G only" data which is a special offer until March when it goes up to £20.

I have a giffgaff sim here and I suggest they rebrand "unlimited" to "unusable" because during the day at most places I've tested around England that's what it is.

I'm currently on an old tariff with Three on a monthly sim. I have been informed (and have it in writing from them ) that as long as I remain on that tariff, I will keep the unlimited tethering with the same cost, minutes and everything.

Given that I use the internet heavily I certainly won't be changing my contract. I can use in excess of 1800 mins a month as well, but for some bizarre reason my text message use has come right down from around 1200 a month to 30. I blame Whatsapp for that

Couldn't you get PAYG with "All in one 15" addon. £15p/m (£.2.10 effective increase)

300 mins
3000 txt
AYCE data
