Dean looked very nice in his white shirt.

Why are Sharon and Shirley kneeling at the feet of King Philth

Cora should never sing again, for a second I thought she was going to start dancing for Stan

I still want Shirley and Sharon to be friends...just me., I think.

So

Sharon blames Linda for an argument she caused.

Phil tells Shirley that he loves Sharon but can't say it to her face and can hardly bear to touch her or look at her.

Shirley tells Phil to drop dead and Babe tells her to get revenge or WTTE
Spoiler
She's going to shoot him isn't she.

Linda says nothing to reassure Nancy.

Jay's still lying.

And Babe's a sh!t stirrer.

Not a great episode, mainly because parties leave me cold and I can't stand Cora, Tosh or Tina. I'm a bit sick of all these twists as well....there's far too many of them.

Good eppy.

Some observations. Apologies if already noted as I'm late to the party:

Is it just me or were there several gratuitous Mick crotch shots at the beginning?

Cora and Stan were great. Cora's Marilyn Monroe was inspired. You can tell the actress is really enjoying herself now.

Sharon/Shirley: Will they joust for Phil's fair hand in marriage? I won't Witter on anymore about Sharon's revenge as I'm starting to bore myself, let alone everyone else!

I thought that was a decent episode to set-up the drama to come, though I really think Linda's behaviour was very contrived to convince Nancy of an affair - I don't believe she would behave quite so OTT suspect considering she's made no secret of her disdain for Dean lately.

Shirley's desperation bellowing across the square for Phil was so laughable. I'll leave out the usual 'wtf does anyone see in that orgre?!' we all cry on a daily basis, but I am actually looking forward to all of this exploding at the wedding. Will be fantastic telly I'm sure.

And finally, amongst DTC's 'pet projects' I actually think one of his biggest success stories is Cora. Aside from that couple of episodes where she and Stan were rather vile to Patrick, that little double-act is one of the stand-out creations of the year. She has finally been given a proper place and dynamic in the show and it has worked wonders for her.

Loved the Carter family bash, Cora was funny as Marilyn Monroe!

Love the scenes with Nancy and Mick!

Why do I get the feeling that Babe is going to do something incredibly nasty to Stan?

Get Cora to wear a white dress and stand over an air vent?

Hang on a minute.

One moment Phil's talking to Ben. The next he's sitting on the sofa with Sharon.
Did they film the scenes the wrong way around?

She's Shirley. That's why.

Philth was bang to rights and should still be in jail. However they then decided that they wanted him back in EE so they had to think of a daft way to get him out......Same story repeated with Stacey.

Can't see him wanting to be in EE for much longer

Really enjoyable episode. I think I'm alone in this but there's not actually a Carter is dislike. Even Shirley grew on me this episode. For some reason I just can't seem to hate Dean either (yet!) and I love Johnny,Nancy AND Lee.

I was a little surprised that this close to their final episode none of the Spraggans or Butchers made an appearance. In quite looking forward to Liam and Whitney staying, provided they don't become surplus to requirements and just float around.

They will need to put some effort into embedding Liam and giving him some purpose - unless he makes an exit tonight or he will be in danger of falling into the jay and Darren rut. I presume Cindy will be crucial to this.

Poor Jay. Shirley dropped him right in it there but it looks like Jay might finally be seeing Phil for what he is as he cleared off.

Nancy: "about my mum kissing Dean". Oh FGS. Her mum DIDN'T kiss Dean, HE kissed HER Not looking good for Linda in an upcoming storyline especially as Nancy is a bit of a daddy's girl and that scene in the kitchen was all a bit ambiguous.

Hell Nancy, I'd be bothered about having to share a room with Shirley! The fags, booze, snarling, farting (you just know that Shirley is going to love letting off big raspers!) No thanks

God I can't stand Aunt Babe, bitter old trout. However I did feel slightly sorry for her when Stan broke her mother's bowl. These two obviously have a lot of bitter history and I don't think she'll let him off with that.

Hated her dripping poison about Stan into Shirley's ears, coniving old witch, but I did like her advice to Shirl on dealing with Phil: "he hurts you, you hurt him back ten times harder". Good advice but it'll fall on deaf ears with that 'un.

Good on Cora for threatening to punch the old trout's teeth out though

LOL at Stan - happy with a sea bass fish for his birthday He lied about his age to get a bigger present (what kind of family are they where they don't know their dad's age though? And even if the kid's didn't know BABE would?) Loved his and Cora's scenes, brilliant. Couple of old acting troopers who are a pleasure to watch.

Wow Phil. I thought that might happen but that was still very harsh: "you was there, nothing else". That and he still loves Sharon no matter how much she's fleeced him. What a blow for Shirley but I've got to say, she practically threw herself at him so she brought her heartache on herself.

Oh FFS. Tosh is pregnant. Kill me now.

Who says that EE isn't educational? I learnt how to gut and fillet a fish in this episode. Ta Stan! I think *vomits*

I don't think Tosh is pregnant as it must be a false alarm because of the new trailer..

Too many carters but Aunt Babe annoyed me. Team Cora!

But Babe's response? "Don’t get too comfortable love, I play the long game. And I always win."

She wasn't phased by Cora's threat at all.

As for Shirley, she isn't the most feminine woman is she?

When is the funeral for the trifle bowl?

That little scene interested me far more than Sharon and Shirley lusting after old grizzlechops.
