I broadly agree with all of the above except for the BIB. I qualify an alpha male as one whose position is accepted as such, not one who aspires to it.
I also note that James's position is more easily accepted amongst some of the women than the men.
Lauren certainly wasn't fooled by him or accepting him as an Alpha though and made that quite clear when she was able to.
For me James behaves more like a thrusting teenager with out of kilter hormones, see his comment last night about Ricci and hoping he pulled some woman and went home to smash the back doors in, how awful.
He comes over to me as overly camp and spiteful whilst at the same time trying to appear wordly wise with a judgement and solution for everything.
I really don't care who wins, I favour none of them this year, but James has revealed a truly awful character.

Well said, I mean VERY well said.
The thing that really gets me with James is that he knows Gary has a brain injury, as he's admitted. This means that he knows Gary's problems are not just because he's a 70 year old man with hearing difficulties. But he never, ever cuts Gary any slack over making abrupt statements and socially awkward behaviour (classic signs of brain trauma), no matter how trivial they may be. He always has to confront Gary and berate him to his face like he was a toddler or something.

They all knew they would be living with strangers but as has been said so many times Gary seems to need care none of them would have thought they would need to tend to a man who is clearly damaged. I blame the producers, and his family really for allowing him to do this show I don't think he should have been put in this position, people seem to be laughing at him not with him most of the time.

Thanks for your critique. I've been asking for someone to try and explain James to me since the series started. I've never seen so much hate filled, spite in one person and his Twitter account gives real insight into what he values in life and it's so desperately shallow.
He just doesn't seem to understand that he's Mr. Small Potatoes compared to Audley and Gary.

Having met James a handful of times, I can tell you that he's a genuinely lovely guy. Knowing his family, I can say that they are very upset with the response that he has been getting. People seem to be forgetting that he has a family, and that they are on the receiving end of people's opinions (his sister, for example got a particularly horrible message on Twitter, wishing cancer on her brother in the future. Who does that?!). His wife has also been receiving hate on the internet.

A couple of comments (or the jist of them) have stuck in my mind: one was in Ola's letter where she said (wtte) that not everyone gets him and the way he says it as it is. The other was a similar conversation between George (?) and James where George said not everyone appreciates James' honesty and James agreed and said it was a shame. James seems to think that he should be able to go around saying exactly what he wants to people and that they should accept it and still like him. It doesn't work like that.
It is totally self-indulgent to have the 'I can say whatever I please' attitude and of course it would never work if we were all like that. James surrounded himself in the house with people who are not like him - the type of people who tend not to speak their every negative thought and say many nice and complimentary things about him. He clashed with every HM who spoke negatively about him to his face.
James knows the score with the media and social networking - people do go way over the top and it is a very sorry state of affairs. But he is exactly the type of character that attracts this and well he knows it. He loves his family fiercely but he chooses to behave the way he does knowing that they may be caught in the firing line. He's not a child, he can behave nicely as you yourself have seen in person, but he wants to have a 'love to hate' persona and will unfortunately have to suck up whatever else goes with that particular territory.

I thought that was what everyone was supposed to do these days tell it as it is, don't tell me just as I start to embrace that idea (which I was brought up to believe was rude) that the tide has turned the other way and it's rude again !
BTW others in there do the same Dee and Gary don't sugar coat it either.

I think I heard Audley say to James about the towel hitting to remember she is a woman/lady or something.
Some of the whacks James did get in with that towel were a tad hard.
Granted after that Edele did drive some home herself. But initially, James did seem a tad rough.
James need not have to apologise to anyone after this, he doesn't owe anybody anything whatsoever least of all Gary.
If anything it is Gary who should share his fee to the rest of the HMs but esp to James who has held his hands from day one.

I have tried so hard to see this 'great heart' and 'cheeky sense of humour' that James is supposed to have, in case he may have some redeemable qualities or is playing a game, but to no avail. In fact, I have realised that this is his game; we are supposed to believe that all these bad traits are being whimsically employed in the name of game-playing, with a nod and a wink and we must forgive all his atrocious traits because of this.
I imagine he will come out of this and protest that everything he did and said was assumed under this role of fairly playing the game and then I think who is it that suggested that he really has a good heart or has a great sense of humour - yes, that's right - it's James.

James is the sort of person I would go out of my way to avoid. As far as I've seen he has no redeeming qualities, and rarely has a good word to say to, or about, anyone. He's clearly a very insecure man and attempts to belittle anyone who won't fall into line. He's been desperate to provoke Audley into a physical confrontation and I think will be angered by the fact his insults are like water off a duck's back where Audley is concerned.
Another thing that annoys me is that he spends all day long dishing it out but can't accept any back.
