I haven't seen any threads discussing this album but I'm interested to know what people think.

I absolutely love it, the only track I'm not feeling is 'Alibi' but the rest are really amazing. My standouts would probably be 'Brain', 'Change', 'Goddess', 'This Is What It Feels Like', 'You Should Know Where I'm Coming From', 'Someone New' and 'Beggin For Thread'. I know that's alot of standouts but I really do think it's a wonderful album.

Looked forward to it for ages.
Turned out to be mostly a gloomy borefest.

You have to really give this album a chance.

I first heard of her from hearing the amazing 'Brain'. That song is epic in my opinion.

I downloaded her album, didn't really like it. Re-listened to it like a month later and the songs start to take hold, particularly ones like '& I Drove you crazy' and the slow/down tempo 'Someone New'.

But Brain is my favorite, the video is great too

One of my favourite albums of the year. Banks deserves so much more success.

I couldn't agree more. I love the combination of R&B and laid back electronica she does. I guess you have to be in the mood for it though. It is kind of a downtempo moody sort of record.

I love it!

'Brain', 'Drowning' & 'F*ck Em Only We Know' are probably my favourites.

Completely agree with this. Didn't really like her at all when I first heard Waiting Game but now I love her.

I listened to the album when it came out. It's an album that you have to listen to a few times to "get" (a bit like Lana Del Rey's albums) but it's quite a solid album.

Yeah it's very hard to love instantly, it's just not those kinda songs you instantly love.

It's only after a good few listens that the songs take hold haha

Having said that, the "& I drove you crazy" repeated line has literally been driving me crazy, very catchy!

I wonder what spurs people to start sycophantic threads such as this. I thought the one about Take That was a new low point, but this is definitely a contender.

What is the music forum for if not to discuss music and artists you like?

EDIT: Unless you thought I was calling her a Goddess? In which case I wasn't, it's the name of the album. If that is true then I suggest you shouldn't make comments on things you know nothing about in future. Thanks.

Yes, it sure was! But I guess they must have though we were saying she's a Goddess. but that's the name of her album which I guess they didn't realize.

Just listened to some of her songs and I've got to that I just love them. I will defiantly be purchasing her album.

I love this kind of music, is there any other artists who are similar to BANKS that are worth checking out?

FKA Twigs has a similar vibe though I don't like her as much as Banks.

I can't really get into FKA Twigs too much. It's a little too avant garde for me. She reminds me of Bjork's more recent stuff which I don't care for. Banks is a lot more pop and accessible.

Yeah I agree Banks is more accessible and probably would resonate easier with people content wise.

I think FKA Twigs regards using your brain a bit which sometimes I can't be asked doing (I also found this with artists like Janelle Monae)
