I'll be getting the iPhone 6 but I can't decide on a colour or storage size.
I've decided on the iPhone 6, 64GB. Either in space grey or silver. I don't think the gold looks as nice as it did on the iPhone 5S.

Exactly the same boat as me. On the basis my 5S is gold I'm thinking of going space grey this time round.

Wonder how likely it is that CPW will sell them sim free on release as I'd rather go in-store and collect on the way home from work.

It's slightly over 'HD ready' 1280x720, which is not that bad.
Its the same resolution as the galaxy s3 which, back in its day, wasn't a bad screen I guess.

CPW will most likely do their strange "sim free but locks to first UK sim" sim free iPhone as they have in previous years.

1080p on a screen this size exists just for bragging rights. It makes zero difference to the end user. The screen on either model will be indistinguishable.

This really comes down to portability. The Plus is the best when you're sat looking at it, but the 6 is the best for when you're moving around. There's no way you can test portability, even at a store, so it's a tough call.

I'd be happy with either, but I'm going for the 6. I don't care about optical image stabilisation and the battery is fine even though there's less of it. I just prefer something I can move about with without feeling it. I also think the 6 is the classier machine.

That's not an issue. What I did with my 5S was bought it in CPW then used the online O2 unlocking form and requested an unlock, so I'll try that again.

What doesn't get mentioned is the Iphone 6 is a smaller and slimmer phone over the plus.

It wouldn't get mentioned as it's fairly obvious the smaller phone will be smaller and slimmer.

A slimmer phone is an upgrade on the 5S. The larger one not so much.

I just can't decide so I'm getting both.

The 5.5 will be my day phone, work phone, productivity.
The 4.7 will be my social phone, weekend phone, leisure time.

Anyone run with a 5 inch phone in a arm band? 5S for me is just right size wise for doing that, can't imagine what it would be like with a 6+..

Just get an iPod - I still have an iPod Mini for the gym as don't want to risk £500+ of phone getting damaged.

Surely that 6 resolution is a mistake? Its really low!
It might not be the highest, but it's the same resolution you get on 40" + televisions, on a 5.5" screen. But if it makes you happy we can describe it as "really low".

I just don't know why this always has to be reduced to either "the highest" or "really low".

Dunno if you watch any of MKBHD but he says he thought 5.7" was stupid but once he'd used it, it felt very natural & of course most come with one handed mode where the screen will shrink for you a bit.

I'm getting a Note 4 either way but I can't wait to see detailed reviews on all the new Apple devices. It's been a great year for new phones so far.

I haven't, but for me even something like the Galaxy feels too big. I only have little hands!

I am (pleasantly!) surprised that worked. I always thought that a problem with the CPW "lock to first network" stock was that the network itself would not recognise that the handset had been bought from them! (a bit like the problems some people get with eBay iPhones)

pre-ordered the smaller model in the end. I just think that the bigger one's going to be uncomfortable to hold, especially with one hand, I've got my ipad when I want a bigger screen.

I'd need shovel hands and clown trousers to have a 6 Plus.

I'm having surgery this afternoon to increase the size of my hands and my clown trousers are on the way from Amazon...

Don't really want to admit I did this but if you go here http://arstechnica.com/apple/2014/09...aper-template/ you can click a link to download a PDF iPhone 5, 6 & 6+ template document.
Stick them to some cardboard and cut around them.
The 6+ is really quite big but will easily fit in my new clown trousers.

I think it will be fine. My hands aren't especially big.
Still going down to Plymouth to the Drake's Circus Apple store on the 19th to check them out first though.

Yeah worked for me on my 5S and on my 5.

Though as it turns out no Sim-Free phones will be sold from CPW on release so I reserved one in my local Apple store. I've never pre-ordered a phone before I'm all kinds of excited

Ha, ha, nice!

I drew my own templates using the dimensions from the Apple website.

The 6 looked fine to me, not significantly larger than the 5S (that small bezel helps).

The 6 Plus, though... Too big for me. I'd like the higher res, improved battery life, and the optical image stabilisation, but it's just too big.

There's a viewing distance to consider. And 40" TV HD ready only is barely acceptable.

Does anyone else see the irony in preaching viewing distance to CP
