Ridiculous, she was just finding something else to pick at. I lived in Canada for 20 years and I still google to see if certain things are available here and the amount of times I asked my sister if they sold a specific thing here was annoying lol. You can be talking about something and just say, Oh I really miss that, do you sell it here, hamburger helper for example, or Kraft dinner. Really miss the proper coffee cream I annoyed a co-worker recently as my daughter has had so much trouble trying to find a job as people don't want to look at 16/17 yr olds due to insurance etc. I explained that Canada has a student job centre that they set up in the summertime and wondered what the difference was as to why they don't do that here and she rudely told me if it was so much better, then go back to where I came from. Said I originally came from Burnley, and no thanks lol. It was just a general ponderance but some people take things the wrong way. He was probably talking in general about some things and just said do you have that here as a passing comment so maybe they could understand what he was talking about better. Tried to explain about a Supernatural convention my daughter is going to and I likened it to comic-con in the States so they would understand better. It's just natural conversation

I hope she goes for it. I admire her ambition. Plus it would mean one less posh git in Parliament.

It might or might not be ridiculous, but it's her view... we haven't been allowed to see every conversation and every interaction. I have seen Gary on a few occasions say that he isn't from there and so.... or, that he's American and so....

With that in mind, i don't think It's impossible that he might approach certain things in a way that Dee interprets within her view as such and as she described, it's just her perspective on things.

The point being, Dee wasn't saying England was a third world country... she was using contrast and examples to further a point within her view. At least in the way i observed it.

I'd prefer not to so I see him as Camerwrong or Camoron to cushion the blow

Honestly, I didn't know who Obama's wife was till last year, that's how interesting politics are to me, especially elsewhere

Of course they do. It's just nit picking. Had Gary said it it'd have been hilarious with honk honks all over the place, followed by tears of laughter and 1,000’s of threads pointing out his superior wit.

Not read further than post #2, this post Exactly, she was being sarcastic because she was remarking on Gary's 'do you have that here' remarks. Yes we have electricity, etc. she said, and then made the 3rd world remark.

Yep. Accusing her of being thick, eh. The irony!

Indeed. It comes over as a little bit forced, especially the hilarity over the 'honk' rubbish.

Seriously? What is it, you think before an American shows up to do Celebrity Big Brother they should study everything about the governmental structure of the UK? Or is he supposed to have obtained the knowledge by osmosis just by being in the country?”

I wasn't serious about him playing the thick card! Guess I should use more smilies.

But you have to admit that a comment like that always results in accusations of playing the thick card/just plain thick. Only when the HM is unpopular it seems.

Thanks muggins.

I was surprised to log in and discover several pages of threads with most FMs thinking she meant it. I mean come on, she may be charmless at times, but she's not entirely incapable of cracking a funny. And it was, for her, quite funny.

Having worked in the US and Canada I've met a few who are very insular and are genuinely surprised to discover how similar other western countries are. I think they think we're all picket fences, umbrellas and fish n chips. We have Walkers, they have Lays, who knew?!

You can read what's coming like a book. Someone rolls their eyes at Gary and pages of threads, 'disgusting, bullying, vile' Gary shows his arse and parks it on the kitchen chair and 'He's 70, brain damaged, bad knee, hard of hearing'...Gives me a laugh anyway

^^ this...and it was blatantly obvious that this was the case

are people that desperate to slag off Dee that they resort to such barrel scraping? there's plenty of non-made up stuff to pick her up on FFS!

I also think that he did not connect a prime minister to Dee - possibly just thought they were talking about someone who might know Dee personally.

Spot on. It's so over the top, it's funny

Apparently ladies and gentlemen, we are living in a third world country!

Morally, yes we are. Financially, yes we will be.

When TPTB say it is time, watch everybody's bank accounts vanish and normally upright middle-class citizens turn overnight into raving lunatics.

People who do not have to fight like animals to survive are no different to those who do.

She is so blo*dy prickly. She sees everything Gary says as a slight. God, I cannot stomach listening or looking at her.

Apparently, since late 2013 we're below Tunisia for loan approvals, although the terms for non-payment are a little less severe, which is handy

LOL! Could have been joking? Seriously?

You think he arrived in this country by hot air balloon, was blindfolded and had a horse and cart take him to the nearest hotel. Do you not think he may have noticed we have cars especially when they go HONK!

Was his hotel room or inn lit by candles?

Seriously who does Dee think she is kidding on that one.

LOL!
