I dont have a kiddie. I have 5 children.
I dont take any notice of politics. Life is what you make it, not what some lying, cheating politician makes it (and they are all as bad as each other)
I work hard (as does my husband), we dont claim benefits, we have made our own life and bring our children up to make their own way in life, not to rely on others. They are well mannered and respect other people and their property. Who needs politics for any of that? That is just common decency and values.

If you read my post again, you would see that I said they mean more TO ME than a car.
And tbh I would still value someone else's safety more than my car, child or adult, although I am beginning to think I could make exceptions there

Maybe leaving the Jeep/MPV at home and walking to the supermarket a few times a week would solve the fat brat phenomenon, it would also relieve the stress of finding an extra wide space for said Jeep, it lessens the risk of getting into an argument/fight, less fuel needed so enviromentally friendly, the list goes on.
The more you think about it the more anti social the act of shopping becomes, maybe the solution could be to charge everybody (excluding disabled & blind drivers of course) say £5 to park

You'd kill 'em all off!

The stress of walking home with full shopping bags and tired kids would more than make up for that, believe me.

I'd have thought ambulances used more fuel than a Jeep, meself.

I am quite aware of the difference between mother and baby and disabled spaces thank you and I am no fool and I am quite aware that this thread is about mother and baby spaces but the same applies to disabled spaces. On many an occasion I have told a Mother with children in the car to park in the disabled section..that is when all the disabled spaces are not taken up by the lazy bug..s who cannot walk 25 yards to the entrance.I am disabled and need a wheelchair and it annoys me when I see mainly women wqith no kids use a space and make me park at the other end of the park.In passing may I say that I have never used a mother and baby space.
As for being a fool....it takes one to know one !!!!

I will use the parent and child parking spaces when I have the children with me, but have never parked in a disabled space. Just because I have the children doesnt make it right to use a space that a disabled person may need. I think that there are many disabled people that need that space a lot more than i do, just because I have children.

Can I also just add that I do not have a problem with those without children parking in the P & C spaces in the early hours of the morning. I certainly wouldn't say anything to someone parked there at 1am. What parent in their right mind would need that space for shopping with children at that time of night? Disabled spaces are different. A disabled person has as much right as the next person to go shopping whatever time, day or night.

I must admit I haven't read through this whole thread, I assume it`s been pointed out why there are Parent Child parking spaces (because more room is needed so the parent can stand with a wide open door to extract the child from its child seat).
Whilst unable to find one a parent child parking space at a motorway service the other day it did occur to me that those without kids should also be grateful for them.
Why ?
Well if a car parks next to yours with a child in the back, one of two things will happen :

If your car is on the other side from the child seat the parent will park their car right up to the white line so as to give them room to get their child out on the other side. This means it`ll be more awkward for you to get out of your car, but also, being so close, there`s an increased risk of a "door dint".

If your car is on the same side as the child`s seat there`s an increased chance of a "door dint" as the parent tries to extract their child whilst stood in the relatively narrow gap between the cars.

So, basically, it`s actually in every drivers interest, even those without kids who never use them, for there to be parent child parking spaces.

Bumping an 11 year old thread

Couldn't you find your own recent thread that covered this subject to bump?

I agree with you. The last week has been horrendous in our local Sainsbury's children creating mahem on their micro street scooters. Parents totally ignoring them and not controlling them. I fully get it that they love their children but don't expect me to love them and let them get away with all sorts.

Scooters IN the actual shop? That should not be allowed.

I do have a toddler and she has run in front of people a couple of times in the supermarket, but I do obviously apologise. I agree that the children should be kept under control, i.e. with the parent at all times and not running about like they are in some sort of playground.

It is not always possible to leave them at home, e.g. one parent is at work.
