Sadly the hatred of Americans in this country would give George an edge, as soon as that clip is aired, there will be people shouting at their TV's "goooo on my son, goooo on". have you not seen James and Dee lecturing Gary about how the British do things, James has even said when in Rome do as the Romans do. So, I reckon he bagged it with that outburst.

i agree Val....like Lauren was safe when she stayed quiet as soon as she went against the club she started to be pushed out but was sort of kept in because Ricci needed a storyline and was too dull to actually speak or do anything, as soon as she a) got berated for going against Dee by Ricci and b) subsequently told him again she wasn't interested she was out of the club and group nominated for eviction......Audley has them all taking th piss out of hi behind his back they are all too scared to do it to his face

Similarly Queen Dee addressed the public in the DR last night. Wtte 'I came in as one of you and made the final of CBB but when I leave CBB I'll still come out as one of you'.

There seems to be some sort of concerted effort by Dee, George and James over the final days to promote their 'Britishness' and 'representing the public'. I can only think they're desperate enough now to keep reminding viewers that Gary is an American and Americans don't win CBB.

i'm finding the british british british bit from James and Dee rather obnoxious, it makes them seem xenophobic which i don't think they are but it doesn't sit right somehow.....can anyone with a functioning brain explain what i mean?

What an absolute twonk, I have watched a few episodes of gogglebox, few funny moments, but rarely did I agree with him.

He doesn't represent me or mine.

He thinks Edele will win so not sure how this is relevant!

I'm afraid it's the UKIP effect, currently gathering momentum in the UK - not good.

I think if a Venn diagram was produced of the demographic of C/BB voters and kippers, there'd be a major area of overlap of the two circles.

What the heck is wrong with being proud of being British or talk about the UK!

I'm not sure how many people here have been to the US but they EXTREMELY proud of being American and think they are the best country in the World!

I think a few people need to look up the definition of being Xenophobic before throwing that term around!

BIB : nothing at all except when it's used in a very icky way like the other night on live feed with James and Dee going on and on about it...and James constantly using it as if it's a cure all for his bad behaviour and George and his representing the "British Public" rather than just the "public" or more accurately "viewers". And the 'Can I give you some advice, as a British citizen'?
it's another of their memes like "RUDE"

Underlined bit: i assume me
Oxford dictionary:
"xenophobic
zɛnəˈfəʊbɪk
adjective
Having or showing a dislike of or prejudice against people from other countries:"

so going by that yes they are appearing to show a dislike and prejudice against the american HM......

i then said "i don't think they are but it doesn't sit right", meaning there's something a bit odd about it i've never seen contestants on CBB really stressing the british thing before using it every time they do a little lecture for the viewers it's odd.

That is a huge presumption on your part but if you really are that desperate then knock yourself out!

BTW you will see I am hoping that Gary wins, I am indifferent to George but have posted that what he said was well out of order, I also am indifferent to James but think he has had a hard time.

But I think some people are making themselves look foolish by trying to make things sound worse than they are!!

i have no idea who you support
i'm not desperate about anything
it's not presumptuous at all, they are using the term "British" as a meme like they use "rude"

but thanks for calling me presumptuous and foolish

Yes, the attempt at taking the high moral ground with 'you don't understand his problems' from some Gary fans is pretty shameful, really.

The same with if you don't think Dee is a 'vile thief', then you must be a scrounger or not a decent person (same for the latter if you don't buy into the Gary hysteria). Very low stuff.

I didn't mind him on Goggle Box and his mum amuses me, but goes to show, the small snippets they feature on doesn't really show them at all.

Why couldn't BB have asked Steph and Dom instead. Just keep the supply of booze coming and they are a scream.

Would have loved to see them in the House.

i thought George just won the show with his 'edited' ch5 clip of trying to set gary straight.

We know gary is a proud american, and with that comes the usual slants against other countries who do it differently. As a canadian i've had it up to HERE with gary-types. We get them alot here as I'm relatively near the border.

believe me, the hms are not being anti american xenophobic, they are just tired of hearing gary 'talk to the cameras' and make pleas for the "great British Public" to hear.

Do you have cars? do you have electricity? i believe the hms. We get stupid shite like that all the time from "mericans. Bellingham Washington is just an hour below border and for some insane reason, Many americans believe that Canada hasnt got HUGE cities and we all have Dog sleds and Igloos.

Thank god for the Winter Olympics at Whistler as it educated many tourists as to what we have here.

i worked with an american and i swear, Shouting and demanding was the way they were ALL the TIME. i'm sure not all americans are like that, brobably very few out of a population of what? 200 million or something?

we had friends in california who were great people, but the difference in culture was eyeopening. Cant imagine living in a society where everyone has to be "on guard' 24/7, carry guns for protection cause its all gang territories AND have a baseball bat inside every door.... just incase.

its crazy down there.

You'd have to go back and read in context as a response to another remark rather than a lone statement.
