Rip, John was great as Jim, sad to see him go.
I expect they'll kill him off on the show.

Sad news, Jim Branning was a brilliant character and John Bardon was a brilliant actor, at least his suffering is now over, deepest sympathies to his wife and family. Brings it home to me my Dad suffered a stroke at the same time as when John did and it has changed him and our families dramatically. A stroke can have an enormous impact on a survivor and family as my Dad has suffered from terrible mood swings, depression and is in the early stages of dementia due to the stroke, he was only 52 when he had his stroke and is almost 60 now, so i have a lot of sympathy with John's plight. Sad News RIP.

TBH I always felt slightly uncomfortable watching him, after his stroke, was never sure how was acting, and how much was him coming back way too soon.

Im sure an off screen death will come shortly, most likely at the best time for Dot.

Jim Branning is trending on Twitter.

Very sad to hear this. John was a fine actor and not just in EastEnders.Jim Branning has been missed for years.

RIP John.

Oh no

Poor John. Hope EastEnders honour him correctly which I'm sure they will after the wonderful send off they gave Mike Reid.

Lets remember the good times

RIP John.

The episode he did with Dot where Jim proposed at the millennium wheel was lovely.

Such sad news. I was hoping we would see more of him in EE - he has been mentioned a lot recently, especially during Patrick's current storyline. He had a really varied career before EE - appeared in so many things. I remember being happy to see him start as Jim, as I knew he'd be good.

Thanks, can be hard at times but you just have to make the best of a bad situation.

I also loved the episode were Jim proposed to Dot on the Millennium wheel was so sweet yet awkward at the end when Jim wants to kiss Dot but thinks better of it, hard to believe that is almost 13 years ago. I also loved Jim and Dot's wedding day, Jim wants to have his wicked way with Dot on his wedding night, but needs some help in the bedroom department so he get's some Viagra of Patrick, he takes the Pill and splashes on a load aftershave etc, he is already for action when Dot tells him she doesn't want sex in there marriage she just wants to be held. The episode ends with Jim looking at the Clock the exact time Patrick tells Jim that the Viagra would kick in. Brilliant.

No doubt attended by Mick, Linda and the kids even though they never knew Jim.

Very sad to hear this. It's a small comfort that he's no longer suffering, but still absolutely gutting news.

Thoughts with his friends, family and colleagues.
