Jim Branning is now the Top UK Trend.

I expect the BBC will dedicate tonight's episode to him.

Very sad news What a partnership Dot and Jim were!

The BBC/EastEnders have said they are dedicating tonight's episode in memory of John which is a lovely thing to do.

Very sad news, but in the grand scheme of things having had a grandad who had several strokes and got weaker and more distressed after each one in the end it can sometimes be a blessing to have them go quickly and without any pain, though even though you know it's coming it is still devastating.

I loved the Dot and Jim partnership and have missed him onscreen, June Brown must be very upset as she was close friends with him and his wife.

RIP John and thoughts go to your family and friends

RIP John. A great actor who created a brilliant character in Jim Branning.
Will be missed.

Sad news.

Wonder if they will do a big funeral for him? Maybe Suzy, April, Jack and Robbie will be brought back for it.

And its quite fitting that tonights episode will be Branning/Jackson centric with Bianca (Jim's grandaughter's) exit

we have seen Carol and Max work together really well in the past, due to Jim and his being in care, at the very least we will see that. Bianca not being there would seem odd however.

Sad News I remember My granny getting a heavy stroke when she was 89 years of age. she lost her walk speech and power in the arm. Took her 7 weeks to recover and she got all back except for the speech. When she got the stroke doctors and nurses had no hope for her but seven weeks later they were shocked that she was going home happy as Larry. She turned 92 last March and she got a slight stroke in July but recovered. Its sad that a person way younger then her didn't have the fight to recover fully R.I.P John Barton aka Jim Branning he will be missed

I also loved the episode were Jim proposed to Dot on the Millennium wheel was so sweet yet awkward at the end when Jim wants to kiss Dot but thinks better of it, hard to believe that is almost 13 years ago. I also loved Jim and Dot's wedding day, Jim wants to have his wicked way with Dot on his wedding night, but needs some help in the bedroom department so he get's some Viagra of Patrick, he takes the Pill and splashes on a load aftershave etc, he is already for action when Dot tells him she doesn't want sex in there marriage she just wants to be held. The episode ends with Jim looking at the Clock the exact time Patrick tells Jim that the Viagra would kick in. Brilliant.”

I'd forgotten that episode. There's something really poignant about Jim and Dot snatching a brief moment of happiness before life takes its inevitable toll. 13 years on that have sped by way too quickly I feel it a bit more today.

R.I.P. John.

It snt only his relatives that will be struggling today, it will also hit June Brown hard.

Makes you wonder if she will consider her future now, as she has so wrapped up with John and Jim.
