Can anyone explain what Dee THINKS "tactical" and "game playing" mean?
Veri

In last night's highlights, after the HMs saw Audley's nomination for Dee, Dee very rudely said "There's a difference between votin' tactically and sticking your head up someone's arse".

Audley said the nomination was tactical (what does he think it means?) and had a valid reason. Dee said it wasn't tactical and that the reason wasn't valid because she saw it as saying she was out of order and Gary wasn't (failing to understand the reason he'd actually given).

Then she said "I don't mind the tactical playing, but the game-players...."

So far it's clear: she thinks tactical is ok, game-playing isn't, and thinks Audley wasn't being tactical.

Next, a bit later, after George said something about eyes on the prize Audley, and Audley said "I have my eyes on the prize", Dee gave another of her smug, smirking nods and said "You definitely have got your eyes on the prize".

The insinuation seemed to be that Audley was doing things with the aim of winning the show. But wouldn't that be tactical, as "tactical" would normally be understood?

Then they see another of Audley's nominations, saying "I don't know if he's earned his stripes". Dee says she'd put money on it being George. James says Audley went for the two he knew weren't gonna go up, because it gives him better odds to stay in to the final. (Which makes little sense, really, but would obviously be tactical.)

That led to Audley asking Dee why she'd said he wasn't being tactical. She claimed his reason for nominating her wasn't tactical.

But that still leaves the problem of fitting the "eye on the prize" insinuation as a criticism even though she though being tactical was ok.

So still

I think she thinks a tactical vote should have an invalid or no reason behind it

I got the feeling that someone (Dee) had thrown that out there that they had voted tactical (Dee nomming James?) when they realised what might happen,I say Dee because for some reason as you say it seemed accepted that that was ok and Dee pronouncing that would have got a few of her sheep on board with it being ok

It seems that accusations of 'game -playing', and 'tic-tacs' as Jade Goody once referred to it, has become a common refrain throughout Big Brother.

I'm quite sure they level such accusations at one another without the slightest clue as to what they're talking about, it's just a way of deflecting criticism.

The truth of the matter is that each and every one is desperate to win, celebrities crave affirmation from the public. So they are all playing a game to some extent: some are playing chess others are playing top trumps.

Why are James and his crew so interested in what Audley does, could it be they are not in it to win it, load of B/S, coming across they and Ricci, have been talking a lot about him behind his back,

Whatever she calls them Dee didn't like any nomination that included her name or the names of her "babies".

The strange thing is that Dee being so energised and vitriolic on this issue towards Audley shows us that she is very much "in the game" and actively playing herself. A person who was there 'for the experience' wouldn't give two hoots how or who Audley was nominating.

I thought she meant people can and do vote tactically and that is OK but they play games in the house provoking others etc and pretending and that isn't OK. Mind with all the rubbish being spoken in the house this year who knows she may not have meant anything at all.

Dee also said no one should take noms personally IIRC...yeah right Dee.

In this case, she was talking about nomination reasons, though, not things like provoking others in the house.

She seemed to think Audley's nomination for her was game-playing, not tactical, but also that it showed he had his "eye on the prize", which she seemed to see as a bad thing.

But doesn't being tactical mean the tactician has their eye on the prize? What else can being tactical mean, in BB nominations, other than doing it because you think it will help you towards winning? That certainly seemed to be how James was thinking in what he said about Audley's reason for nominating George, and Dee seemed to agree.

So how does she fit 'tactical is ok' together with having your eye on the prize is not ok?

Yes ... the looks her face in the game in last night's show she is taking things very personally indeed.

For instance when she lunged for the button to say it was Gary who most wants to win.

No clue. It's one of the many catchphrases which have been bandied about BB for years along with "bitching" (conversation) "being real" (!) "staying myself" (though Nadia and Kellie have kind of thrown that a bit) and all the other meaningless nonsense that is spouted during the series. Apparently it's absolutely killing them all that James is regarded by the public as the biggest game player when actually what they probably mean is that he is the biggest a-hole in there.

You can use tactical voting in several ways, either to win yourself, help another to win or insure someone you dislike doesn't win. So to vote tactically doesn't necessarily mean you yourself wants to win.

I think she is a bit thick and there is no real logic to her thinking other than; people I like are right, people I don't like are wrong

Perhaps. But there's been nothing that suggests the Dee thinks being tactical is ok only so long as it's to help someone else; and so there's still a problem of fitting 'tactical is ok' together with 'eye on the prize' is not.

Indeed, when James said why he thought Audley's nomination was tactical, it was a perfect opportunity for Dee to criticise him for being tactical to help himself, if that were what she had in mind.

Tactical - fake sweets from China with dodgy label bought down the pub

Game-playing - Friday night poker with fags as chips

Like Helen Wood she thinks it's OK to nominate others, but not for others to nominate her or her friends. No matter what reason was given she would be equally as angry.
